On the firmware website at
http://ftp.digital.com:80/pub/Digital/Alpha/firmware/
there is several methods for booting firmware documented.
They list a method using the system disk and the file
name with the BTP extension.
Other systems use the .EXE file for the system disk. I also have
used non-system disks and executed writeboot on the .exe file to make
that disk bootable.
1) Will the .exe work if writebooted on a non-system disk?
2) Will the system disk method work if the .EXE file is used instead of
the .BTP ?
3) Will the .BTP file work if writeboot is execute against it.

The fw types are .btp - bare fw image (to be used with writeboot) .exe - fw + cd bootable header .sys - fw + mop header. SO if you want to build a bootable floppy , use the .btp file. - Sridhar. | |||||
