I am trying to upgrade the firmware of a DEC300 500s. If I use UPDATE 3.7 or 3.8 I get the following error after hitting return to "Bootfile:" %APB-I-FILENOTLOC, Unable to locate %APB-I-LOADFAIL, Failed to load secondary bootstrap, status=00000910 ?05 HLT INSTR I have also tried giving the file [DEC3000]M500_V6_9.exe with update 3.8, but I also get a halt. In desperation I tried to update the firmware with UPDATE 3.2, but it also fails. If I do a "show config" it displays DEC 3000 - M500 VPP PAL X5.41-82000101/OSF PAL X1.28-82000201 30-Apr-93 What versions of UPDATE do I require to update the firmware. Julian

I don't think that the firmware upgrades have ever been capable of jumping arbitrary numbers of versions. Since you are trying to go from V2.4 to V6.9, it seems that the V6.9 is not able to understand firmware that's nearly 4 years old. Try getting old firmware kits and do it in several steps (like a kit from 1994, one from 1995, ...) -cw |
