1953.0. "as255 power problem" by LATINA::MAS (MCS Madrid) Tue May 06 1997 15:55

	Hi all!!

I have the next problem , with a AS255/300 with the
	next configuration:

	- AS255/300 (CPU rev C01) fw 6.1-2
	- 128Mb mem
	- CD-drive
	- Graphics adapter PBXGB-AA
	- KZPAA (with no devices atached)
	- Internal RZ28
	- Floppy drive
	- Mouse, keyb
	- one TLZ07-VA and RZ28M-va connected at internal SCSI
	  and in a BA356.

Sometimes "only" when the customer switch off the system
and switch power on again (waiting at least 40 sec).
The led lits , the disk spin up the fan works but no video
	nothing else happens.

The only "emergency" solution is the next

Disconnect the CD,diskette drive and the internal disk
Then switch on , and the system power up fine.
At that time connect this three devices , and the power
stay OK. Then i make a init instruction , the system
recognize the devices an then boots OK.

I have replaced 2 power , the last one is revision C03
The battery of the system board (it is said in note 1614)
	But all without results.

	May be a CPU problem?

	Any ideas?

	Thanks in advance

				Juan Antonio Mas

Is there a terminator in the KZPAA? How long is the internal SCSI?
What are the SCSI IDs for the controller and for the various SCSI
   devices? Which operating system?

I'd also use the internal SCSI for the internal devices, and the KZPAA
for the external devices -- and I'd check for support of all devices
on the SCSI chain, and for a sufficiently short SCSI bus.

I'd also look at the BUS_PROBE_ALGORITHM, the BOOT_RESET variable, and
the settings of the various other environment variables in the console.
