1946.0. "alphastation 255 network problems" by KAOFS::E_HAWKINS () Tue Apr 29 1997 18:34
I have a customer who purchased about a dozen alphastation
255/233's. All systems are running Unix 4.0b and 6.4-1 firmware.
Several of them would crash when doing a large ftp copy. The
resolution in each case was a new motherboard. We also noticed that
the some of the systems had poor network performance. This was measured
by pinging of a router. The good systems would get a 1 to 3 mS
response, the poor systems would get about 100 to 250 mS response.
It appears that the systems with the better response time have a
rev E03 motherboard and the ones with the poorer response have a
rev D05 motherboard.
Does anyone know if there's a difference, or is it just
coincidence?
Thanks,
Ed Hawkins
