I have a AlphaStation 255 running WNT 4.0. It runs the OS just fine but seems to have a problem at console level. It is currently running AlphaBios V5.10. My problem is this: When I boot the system it init's OK, then init's the SCSI bus OK. If I then get into setup with F2 and try to use either "Display System Configuration" or "Hard Disk Setup" it just hangs. Both these options worked in the past. I have tried isolating it by removing my external SCSI bus with no luck. I can get to other AlphaBios options with no problem, like "CMOS setup", "About AlphaBIOS" etc... Anybody have any ideas as to what "Display System Configuration" and "Hard Disk Setup" are trying to do that cause them to hang? Thanks, Rodney

When you choose "Display System Configuration" and "Hard Disk Setup", the firmware will attempt to spin up the hard disks in the machine. If you upgrade to firmware to the latest release version, V5.21, it should solve your problem. Scott

Re: -1 Would it be possible for you to give me a pointer to the firmware ans a quick overview of the upgrade procedure. I have never done a console firmware upgrade on the Alpha before. Thanks for your help! Rodney
