1923.0. "AS255/300, ZLX2-E and distortion?" by MUCTEC::BECKER (Hartmut B., VMS & Languages, Munich) Mon Apr 14 1997 08:04

I have a small problem with my (new) alphastation 255/300. The icons on my
screen (and in other applications some widgets/gadgets) are distorted. It is
reproducable. With XV I capturered the screens (MUNICH::BEFORE.JPG, AFTER.JPG).

Any idea?
Hartmut

The configuration is:

1923.1turn off DMA writes for your graphics adapterGYPOS3::EIBLReinhard Eibl @FKR, DTN 865-4027Tue Apr 15 1997 05:5013
Hartmut,

this is a known problem with the PowerStorm 3D30 graphics adapters. One
workaround is to turn off DMA writes to the 3D30 (see also BGSDEV::OPEN3D,
note #1095.4)

This can be done by defining decw$ffbdodma to be 4 in the X server options
file SYS$COMMON:[SYSMGR]DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP.COM
I'm not sure if decw$ffbdodma needs to be a symbol or a logical. Define
both if don't want to search the doc.
After a reboot your problem should dissapear.

    It's a logical name.
