AlphaStation 255 Building AlphaBios I have a client that received an AlphaStation 255 that wants to run both Digital Unix and Windows NT. I have updated the firmware to V3.8 (SRM) and built Digital Unix V4.0B. I tried building WindowsNT v4.0 and can not get the AlphaBios to load. How do I build AlphaBios from the Console? I was told in the NTAXP conference that I can build BIOS from the NT CD. Please point me to a procedure or note, etc... thanks, /Mic

Hello, the Alphastation255 can have either SRM console OR AlphaBIOS installed. If you type "show config" at the ">>>" prompt, you will notice the line "ARC console not found". You will have to reprogram your firmware in case you want to switch from VMS/UNIX to WindowsNT and vice versa. To switch from SRM to AlphaBIOS boot your firmware CD an type "update arc" at the Apu> prompt. (Not 100% sure if syntax is correct...) tzi | |||||

You can also run AlphaBIOS from floppy without re-flashing. See 843.64 or read ftp://ftp.digital.com/pub/Digital/Alpha/firmware/utilities/mkntboot.txt |
