There seems to be a problem in the manufacture process of the AS600. If you look at the chassis where the SCSI cable passes from the IO area tothe drive area, there is a Burr that can (and has) cut the SCSI cable. I've looked at several AS600's and they all have the same prolbem. Be Aware. It would be nice if manufacturing could address this issue(file off the burr) early in the product life cycle. IMHO Thanks

I installed 15 AlphaStation 600 systems last week. The newer systems had a semi transparent yellow tape wrapped where the cable passed through to the I/O cavity. Perhaps someone in engineering, or manufacturing saw this as a problem. There used to be a process to resolve these types of issues called Tech Tips. A Tech Tip was a tool the field used to identify problems, and get ECOs, or FCOs generated. John Maria (former Tech Tipper) | |||||

This system actually had this tape on it. It didn't help. I got in a new cable...it had no tape. So we put some tape over the burr. I hope that will do it. Randy |
