I have a cust. that just purchased multiple AS600's & AS500's with
DE500 cards. It turns out that sales sold them DE500A's. This is
causing system hangs ranging from locked consoles on the 600's to
intermittant console hangs on the 500's.
More specifically, the symptoms on the 600's (2 of 3) is that on power
up, you get the "keyboard not plugged in" and the "chevron prompt". On
one unit you have approx. 5 sec. of console response, after that, it is
locked. The other ranges from 5 sec. to a couple minutes. One
actually seems to work(system runs but cust hasen't tried the card
yet.)
I installed a DE500X and all seemed well. So, the question is...Is the
DE500 qualified on the AS600 yet????

Did you submit an IPMT case ? If not, I would suggest you do it ASAP.
There are persons,like me,officially responsible for solving IPMT cases.
Troubleshooting without detail info, (such as system configurations, FW
version,EWA parameter setups and HW revision...), is not easy. I would
try to update the SRM first...SRM version before V6.3-9 may not support
DE500-AA.

Support for the DE500-AA was included for the AS600 with fw 6.2-3 onwards and for the AS500 v6.3-11. You must have this min rev of fw else the systems will hang at count e6.. Make sure the value ew*_mode is also set correctly. Since de500-aa is twisted/fast , make sure you have not set it to bnc or aui. - Sridhar. | |||||

Updated firmware seems to have fixed hanging problem...Thanks
Question though... The spec indicates max 1 card is that true????
We have a cust that requires 2 cards...can this be done...should we go
to the DE500X? Does that support 2 cards? They are running unix
4.0b. The SRM is updated to the latest off the 3.8CD.
Cust also was wondering if this card or the DE500X is supported under
unix 3.2G.

There is no restrictions on the number of de500-aa you can have on the system. Unix 3.2g has support for de500-aa. - Sridhar. | |||||
