1873.0. "AS600 console memory test" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Steve Bevis) Wed Feb 26 1997 08:25

Hi,
has anyone chanced upon this problem:-
I recently attended a customers who had memory errors on his AS600.
I ran the memory test from the console. by typing "memory" and
when I entered "show_status" it showed me that the read/write count
was increasing. It eventually called out a MMB and Simm. I checked it
was a correct call out by moving the Simm. Re-running the diagnostic
called out the moved failing simm.
I did not record the rev of the console.

I then went to another customer who had 3 X AS600's running
WNT4.0. One froze intermittently. I tried to run the console memory
test (on all 3) and when I entered "show status" the read write count
stayed at zero. It did not appear to be testing the memory.
The SRM was at version 6.0-21

Am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug in the console code etc.
Any assistance on this one would be much appreciated.

thanks in anticipation.

1873.1checvk for background processLEDDEV::DHATIWed Feb 26 1997 17:0314
The memory command will create a background process to
exercise the memory. Check to see if there is such a
process. Use the >>> ps ax command to view all the active
	processes.

If there is no background memory test process, your memory
command failed for some reason. It could be due to one of the
variables "d_group" not being set. Use >>> set d_group field
and then run memory again. Check for background process.

	>>>showit
will show the status every 5 sec.
