1848.0. "VRT19-HA Display bleeding" by SWAM1::PANGALLO_DA () Fri Feb 07 1997 15:36

    I have a customer who has a vrt19-ha connected to an Alphastation
    3400. When the Digital logon logo is displayed the lighter color
    of the logon box with the Digital logo "overshoots" a light shade
    over the darker background just to the right of the box. This is the
    case with any kind of window that is lighter than the background.
    That is the best way I can describe this, I have tried another VRT19
    as well as connecting the monitor to another system.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Dan

This is typically caused by impedance mismatch in the cable
or termination. Is the customer using the correct cable?

   NB: The DEC 3000-400 is a `bird', specifically a Sandpiper, and is
   usually discussed over in the WRKSYS::DEC3000 notes conference.

   The video cable may/will vary by the video controller installed in
   the system. Part numbers appear to be 17-02906-01, and (with the
   PMAGB-B TURBOchannel controller) BC29G-09. (There are various user
   documentation files referenced over in WRKSYS::DEC3000.)

    As far as I can tell. I tried two different cables, both Dec cables.

    I don't remember but I am pretty sure they are the cables as mentioned
    in reply #2.
1848.5Wrong Hemisphere?XDELTA::HOFFMANSteve, OpenVMS EngineeringWed Feb 12 1997 09:563
   The -HA suffix is usually Southern Hemisphere video. Where are you?

    I am in northern Arizona.

Can anyone give a brief explaination of the difference between northern
and southern hemiphere monitors?

    re .7 - why north and south? ...

    See note 1509.* for some info on northern versus southern hemisphere
    monitors. Or, if you're seriously self-abusive, note 424.* in the
    ATLANT::TERMINALS conference (press KP7).

    There appear to be *two* TERMINALS conferences: ATLANT::TERMINALS is
    the more current, and HUMANE::TERMINALS is write-locked (with no
    immediately obvious pointer to its successor, but you can dig around in
    there and find it). The master list in TURRIS::EASYNET_CONFERENCES
    says ATLANT, I'd stick with that.
