1837.0. "DE205 - ENA0 becomes ERA0 but why ?" by BACHUS::ROELANDTS (Wa d'es ma da ve ne stuut) Tue Feb 04 1997 10:56
Hello,
I searched and read quite a lot of notes and stars articles but could not
find an answer to my customers questions, so I will ask it in here :
" I have an AlphaStation 255 with 2 Ethernet controllers in it :
1. the on-board known as EWB0, in DECnet EWA-1
2. a DE435 known as EWA0, in DECnet EWA-0
3. a DE205 known as ERA0, in DECnet ERA-0
so far so good, but why is the DE205 known by the console as a ENA0 and
in VMS as ERA0 ?"
Anyone knowns why ? thank you for any info
Regards,
Guy

because the console programmer chose to call it ENAx and the VMS programmer
chose to call it ERAx. Any similarity in the names is purely coincidental.
