Well, we're a year down the road and now running VMS V6.2-1h3
on all the Alpha 200 4/100's on the production floor ('bout 120+).
We are still having the same "periodic" hang of the TTA0 and OPA1
serial ports. The customer is sending Regis graphics code from
a PDP to a DECterm on the Alpha's running a SET HOST/DTE session.
I've applied the following patches:
ALPSYS06_070
ALPOPDR02_062
ALPTTDR02_070
with no apparent success. By "peridoic" hang I mean that on occasion
the port will stop receiving data, but if you wait long enough (a
minute or so) it will continue processing data w/o and data loss.
Another situation has come to light during analysis of this problem.
Connecting a Hayes 144 Optima modem to either of these port using the
same SET HOST/DTE setup causes basically the same problem. The
connection is made thru to logging in to the server then onto a
node successfully. Then after a couple minutes of processing time
the DECterm session will hang. Also if you wait long enough the
data will eventually be transmitted a character or two at a time.
Any ideas,
Ed Gallagher
