573.2 | AS255 PCI timeout address?? | SIOG::TMCKEOWN | | Mon Feb 17 1997 09:02 | 10 |
| I have a machine check crash on a AS255 that lists a time out on the
address 88100070 in the EPIC_PEAR register, how do I determine the PCI
option that timed out?? It is not clear to me how to do tis from the .1
reply...
Thanks,

573.3 | graphics card in shared-interrupt PCI slot? | WRKSYS::RICHARDSON | | Mon Feb 17 1997 12:19 | 14 |
| I forwarded this one off to one of the device driver people (who may
not be in today since it is a holiday for most non-DECcies...). In the
meantime, a few questions for you. Is the graphics device in the AS255
a TGA2? The address you mention would be assigned to one, if you have
one (the video valid register). If you do have a TGA2, make sure you
have not installed it in the PCI slot that is closest to the
motherboard.
It would be useful if you could tell us that operating system and
version the victim system is running, what version of firmware, and
what version of Open3D is installed, as well as what PCI cards are
installed and which slots they are in.

573.4 | Som info requested.... | SIOG::TMCKEOWN | | Mon Feb 17 1997 12:56 | 16 |
| Hi Charlotte,
Thanks for response.....I have some of the info you requested...
System is running Digital UNIX V4.0B, some of the PCI slot info is
Slot 12 - NIC DE450
Slot 13 - TGA2 Graphics card
I am unsure of the relation of slot 12,13 to physical location. Someone
else was gathering info. I do not have Firmware revs etc. but the
system is only installed 4/5 weeks ago. I will check out location of
TGA2 physical slot...as a matter of interest how did you related the
address to the TGA2 module???
Thanks

573.5 | inside knowledge of the address | WRKSYS::RICHARDSON | | Mon Feb 17 1997 15:10 | 10 |
| I know that the TGA2 gets mapped to those physical addresses; I do the
Xserver support for that graphics board, so I have to look at the
addresses in DAS traces and such. The Xserver does not use the address
you have in there anyhow, though - only the device driver uses that
one. I think slot 13 is the top one, which is an OK place for the TGA2
to be (that's where mine is).
Make sure you have installed Open3D.
