| BTW, the pipes between the air coolers in the labs and the
compressor on the roof, appear to possibly be covered with
pipe insulation containing abestos. Anyone know for sure?

since I'm heading south around 8:15am...

It would make one hell of a leaf blower !

| I took one still shot of it sitting the lot. I've got a few more pictures left
on the role, so it will be a while.
It was flying at 6:40am Saturday. I awoke and could just barely hear it, until
I went out on my porch. Then I could REALLY hear it. I could see the blades
through some of the trees, but nothing interesting. When I left at 8:30 am, I
intended to come by and take some more pictures, but since I couldn't hear it, I
figured it wasn't flying and so I took off for the day. At 4:45, it appeared
they were finished.

472.7 | Seen from Rt 3 North | DECC::SULLIVAN | Jeff Sullivan | Mon Apr 14 1997 13:10 | 11 |
| I saw "Hurricane Bubba" from Rt 3 North on Sat at about 12:30. It was lifting
one of the boxes into place at the time. I was surprised how close it appeared
to be to the highway. No pitures, though.
I wondered if it would be on the local news, but I guess it's not news unless
something goes wrong. I saw a video of a similar chopper that dropped it's load
and then crashed in Texas(?). They were installing a similar sized unit on a 10+
story building. Although it looked very scary, no one on the ground or in the
helicopter was seriously hurt.

| I hear that the helicopter will be back to work on this Saturday. Same site
shutdown info as last time. I'm not sure if it's back in the lot yet...

472.9 | Helicopter encore captured on video | EVMS::GFISHER | | Wed May 07 1997 11:21 | 14 |
| Hi,
I took some video this past weekend of the Erickson
sky crane helicopter replacing the 7-9 ton air handlers
on top of the Spit Brook Rd. facility. Chewing through
10 gallons of fuel a minute, it's a pretty impressive
flying machine. I have about 1/2 hour of video. If
anyone's interested in either viewing or copying this
video, let me know.

Maybe someone in the multimedia group would convert it
to AVI or Quicktime? Try asking Tom Morris.
