1659.0. "Off to Alaska" by MB300E::MICHAUD () Fri Aug 02 1991 12:30
Leaving tomorrow for a fishing trip to Alaska. Flying into Anchorage and from
there, will head to the Kenai penninsula. Going after Silvers (coho). Hope to
get lucky and land a monster Rainbow (heck, hope to get lucky and land anything)
Not sure exactly where/how we're going to fish. A cousin, who's been living
there for 15 yrs, will be my guide (he does it for a living).
I'm sure there will be much to write about when I get back. Will fill you
in on the stories in a couple of weeks.
Yes, I'm bringing rain gear...it's been wet there for most of the summer...not
unusual I guess.
regards,
jonathan michaud

1659.1 | Go for Sockeye :-) | DECWET::HELSEL | Legitimate sporting purpose | Fri Aug 02 1991 13:31 | 13 |
|
I saw on the Seattle news last night that they have so many sockeye
returning to the Kenai ( due to a more than successful stocking program
they implemented 3 years ago) that they have corraled the sockeye into
an area of the Kenai and they are letting people walk up with a net and
take six fish each. This is like taking six goldfish at the fish
store.
Obviously they need to do this to control the population.
If nothing else, you ought tto be able to get 6 sockeye :-)
