1656.0. "Where are the Blues??" by SCARGO::MCKENNA () Mon Jul 29 1991 17:17

    Where are the Blues???

    I know the blues are somewhere on the Maine Coast. Has anyone heard of
    where anyone has been catching them. I would like to make a trip this
    weekend and would like to plan to stay somewhere that i can fish from
    the surf or a jetty. Any info would be greatfully appreciated.

    							Thanks,

    I have a summer place in York Maine and the blues were all over the
    place Friday and Sat. I have a boat so I wasn't fishing off shore but
    people were catching them off the rocks to the left of Nubble Light. I
    heard of one guy who got 13 blues on Friday night. This limit is 10
    blue per person per day. I got my limit in about 1 1/2 hours trolling
    off the left side of the Nubble. All the news is not great though, on
    Sunday you couldn't buy a blue. I talked to other boats over the radio
    as well as listening in on the charter boats. No one was catching them.
    This is how it's been all year. One or twd days of knocking them dead
    and then a week of one or two blues. There are charter boats going out
    of York Harbor. If you need more info send mail or call me DTN
    232-2553. Good luck

1656.2The water was BLACK with BLUES!!WMOIS::SALVI_FThu Aug 01 1991 11:4410
         I own a trailor in Old Orchard, I was there last weekend and I
    was down by Ocean Park beach and the life guards were going CRAZY
    trying to get people out of the water because there were so many
    blues. When I looked in the water to see what he was talking about
    the water was BLACK with blues, they were probably feeding on mackeral
    and herring. It was qite a site, so my suggestion would be to find
    a place somewhere between Ocean Park and Camp Ellis.
