1655.0. "New ASTRO boat. Questions.." by SOLVIT::PAPPAS () Mon Jul 29 1991 09:37

I just put a deposit on an ASTRO alun V hull 14' boat. The boat was
used only the beginning this year and the guy traded it for a speed
boat. The boat comes with a new 9.9 Mercury, gas tank, and a trailer
with a spare tire and a guide wheel on the front of the trailer when
you detach from your car. The boat has a wide bow and it seems to sit
good in the water and not get drowned when speeders go by.

Everything on this package looks brand new. I got the owner down to
$1,650. for the package and I got a factory warranty until next May.

I question is for $1600 is this boat worth the money? I only had a
budget of $1500 so my choices were finding a used boat and get another
persons headaches or buy something new with a warranty.

    What do you think?

    Ken,

If you like the boat and it fit's the type of fishing you need to
do, then your choice is fine. Seems from a previous note your just
getting back into fishing. I think you made a good choice and the
price with a warranty seems pretty reasonable. One thing about the
style of boat you have is their real easy to modify with casting decks
if you choose to do so in the future. A few folks in this file have
done that and I'm sure would offer you any information on what or how
they did it. Plus think of all the money you saved that you can now
spend on new tackle like the rest of us. Enjoy you new boat.
