I recently had a friend of mine root around in my tackle box with their hands full of suntan lotion. My Cod jigs smell like "Almond Joy" candy bars. Does anybody have some advice on cleaning solutions for deep sea rigs and jigs. Bud

good choice, also makes a cheap affective fish attractant also. it beats paying 5-6 bucks for baitmate, I use whatevers closer baitmate or the reliable D-40. | |||||

I fished for lobster when I first got out of the Navy back in 1962. I ran a Novi lobster boat for the owner all week, and he went out bottom fishing with the boat on weekends. One of the old salts around the docks told me to try splashing kerosene on the cement in the lobster traps. I tried it, and it worked surprisingly well. It was an effective lobster and crab attractant. Trouble was, whatever was in the trap tasted like kerosene. And, the longer it was in the trap, the stronger the taste. Seems like no matter how long I waited to pull the pots, there would be a sheen or slick from the kerosene when I got the pot up on the rail. I quit using my new secret weapon... WD-40 is essentially kerosene, I think. Art |
