I will be camping with my family in a couple of weeks at in Franconia, NH at the Lafayette campground/state park. It is my understanding that Echo Lake is located in the park. We are bringing a canoe and fishing equip. and I hope to do some fishing there. The state lists it as a "reclaimed" lake that has been restocked with brook trout.I was wondering if anyone reading this conference has had experience fishing in this lake? Thanks, Matt

Great Brook trout fishing.I'm not sure if its Echo or Profile lake that is flyfishing only so make sure before casting your spinning tackle. Also if EWE have kids or ewe are a big kid go to any river in the White Mountains and bring the smallest hook ewe can find and some line a small worm and jump from rock to rock letting your line down in the small holes. Those fingerling brookies are a real test of coordination cause they dash out and steal the worm as fast as ewe put it in and are real tasty except ewe need 20 for a meal. Profile Lake is fly fishing only. I had good luck last August with a Royal Coachmen dry fly. You must use fly fishing equiptment ONLY. Like previous replies...good brook trout in Profile, not sure about Echo. Jeff (Captain) Team Starcraft | |||||
