I Love the Ulgy Sticks for everything.. I have two Fly rods,
a light spinning rod and a nice medium rod for trolling and
spinning for LARGE Salmon in New York..
My Medium Ulgy Stick rod is SPL 1100 that the wife just bought
me.. 32-33 bucks ?? In the Catalogs!! I'll be using a Mitchell
300 reel with it.. Sturdy reel with a name thats been around for
a long time.. Ya, Like myself !!
I like my Ugly Stick Fly rod, 9 footer for a Medium rod too!! And
when I fish up in Moosehead, thats what I use for trolling a top
water line.. A 9 footer is hard to find these days.. I had to buy
a 8 and half footer to back it up with..
Remember, and its happen to me twice... A LIFE LONG WARRANTEE
Just send the pieces back and they'll send back a brand new rod..
Try one, you'll love it ....

| If you like the durability of the Ugly Stick, but would like stiffer
action, especially when trolling, I recommend Zebco's Rhino Rod.
I like the Ugly Stick, but I like a little stiffer action. So I was
down Spag's a couple of weeks ago, and the the sales clerk showed me
the Rhino Rod. I immediately like the feel of it, and it's
indestructible like the Ugly Stick. (Of course I know of people who
broke Ugly Sticks). Plus it's ten bucks cheaper than the Ugly Stick.

| For moosehead, I prefer a bottle opener.

| I'm not an expert but I know what I like for different purposes...
When you say "trolling" it conjures up three scenarios in my mind. the
first is Downrigging, the second being flatlining and the third is
planer boards.
What is your typical trolling situation?
Best regards,
Duncan

| Downrigging and planer boards, although the latter is not a true
planer board with outriggers and all. Dipsy divers and something
I saw in Cabela's, a small planer type board that attaches to your
line...
Downrigging will be from 2-40 feet....
