| What a coincidence. I just happen to have a copy of the WA regulations
handy ;-)
1990 License Fees (1990-1991 regs)
3 day resident........................$7.00
resident hunting + fishing...........$24.00
resident fishing.....................$12.00
non-resident fishing.................$40.00
3 day non resident fishing...........$14.00
complimentary fishing (?????)..........free
conservation license..................$8.00 (allows people to use
special f&w areas)
resident fishing guide license......$150.00
non-resident guide..................$500.00
duplicate license.....................$8.00
steelhead permit.....................$15.00 (but if you turn in last
year's in the first 30
days of the new year,
they knock off 5 bucks)
Note: You also need a "salmon card" if you want to fish for salmon. It
actually consists of two cards: 1 being a card where you enter your
fish and location caught and the other is "personal use" license. As I
recall, it costs $7.00 for residents and non residents. I can't find
it in the regs (?????).

Interesting that resident licenses are hunting & fishing - not
separate. Trout, being limited to the eastern third of the state and
requiring considerable management expense, cost extra. In addition,
there are special permits for certain towns or bodies of water. Free
fishing is available to: anyone under 13, landowners, military on
leave, anyone over 65.

Since the 1991 rule book does not include fees, I figured
I'd post what was available from last year to give folks an idea.
There was a 50 cents increase in the resident all species fishing,
so similar increases are likely throught the other fees.

Question: I was ice fishing this past weekend in Maine and on Sunday
the warden was out checking and he mentioned to us that he'd check our
licenses except that Sunday, Feb. 17 was a "free day." I asked what he
meant and he said that for that day only for ice fishing, no license
was required by anyone. He also mentioned that the same rule applied
to two days during the open water season. He wasn't sure which days
during open water, but thought one was Father's day.
I never heard of this before nor have I seen it in the regs. Anyone
know more about this or the days for the open water season?
