1464.0. "Remote Ponds/Bass = Special Canoe Need" by DEALIN::MCATEE () Tue Jul 31 1990 16:42

    Several years ago, I bought a 17' Nature Bound Canoe from a fishing
    friend. I love it for (2 person) fishing due to (1) wide beam, (2)
    relatively light weight, (3) outboard floatation and (4) side-mount
    trolling motor set up. Am now looking for shorter/lighter version
    of the same, or something equivalent, for the solo days. I tracked
    the canoe back to a place in Fitchburg which is now out of business.

    1. Does anyone know if Nature Bound canoes are still made and/or
       where they can be bought?
    2. Do you have any recommendations on what I am looking for (i.e.
       canoe, outboard floatation, wide beam, shorter than 12', light
       weight)?

    Your info/advice is appreciated since we're getting too old to
    carry the big canoe into those remote ponds with big bass.

    Thanks
    John

John,

	I may be wrong here, but I believe Nature Bound moved to Princeton.
I can't remember exactly where I've seen them, but I think it was Princeton.

1464.2RTE 140 WINCHENDONISLNDS::CARLBERGWed Aug 01 1990 09:015
    Nature Bound is now located in Winchendon Ma. right on rte. 140.
    The phone number is 508-297-0288. I go by the place quite a bit
    and they have a lot of canoe's in stock.
    Hope that helps

1464.3Moved to RT 140 in Winchendon, MA.MYTPAK::ROSINSKIWed Aug 01 1990 09:0411
    The store on RT 12 in Fitchburg which sold Nature Bound Canoes is
    called Outdoor Endeavors, Inc.. I believe they moved to Winchendon,
    not Princeton. The last phone phone number I have for them is
    508-297-3114, I beleive it is for their new store. When you talk to
    them ask them if I get a referral discount. ;^) I've been eyeing their
    Whisper II model for years now, but never can seem to come up with the
    cash.

    The small alum. Sportspal canoe looks like it would be a nice little
    fishing platform. Personally I have never paddled one, but if I were
    in the market for a smaller canoe, I'd try one. I believe they can be
    rowed as well. -donmac

    Thanks, very much, for the quick replies. The summer is getting short
    and I can get on with finding the canoe and getting some of this big
    bass. As a thanks to you who replied, send me a note and I will share
    some of these places (central MA, outside of 495) areas where we've
    caught 18" and larger(mouth).

    The several other folks here who are looking for canoes thank you too.

    PERRAGUSES MARINE in athol sell sportspal canoes. A 12 ft. canoe weighs
    around 33 lbs. last time i checked the prices it was $500, but that
    included seats, paddles and trolling motor bracket. an excellent choice
    for carrying through the woods. also this canoe is extremly stable.
