| Bob, this weeks Globe reported good flounder fishing off of Plum Island
on the outgoing tide. They also said there was some success off of Hull
and Nahant beaches. In some regions flounder fishing seems to be in
trouble, so there are not as many spots to choose from..Remember
theres a 12in size limit.....

| I was at Plum Island in the river by the south jetty sunday. There
were plenty of *keeper* flounder caught in the boats and it looked like
the surf fishermen were catching then also. Can't remember seeing so
many flounder there. Also small pollack and schoolie stripers.

Bob, we spend a lot of time in Salem catching Flounders, and there is
several boat ramps available.

| I heard from two different sources not to eat flounder out of Salem.
The harbor is polluted with PCB's or the like.

All this talk makes me want to go out for flounder Saturday. I'm docked
in the merrimac river and probably fish the toothpick. What I need to
know what to catch them on. I fished for them about 10 years ago. What's
the best.

| A few weeks ago we were catching flounder by the south jetty and around
the last green can at the mouth of the river. I haven't had much luck
the last couple weeks, but I have been mainly looking for blues & cod.
I believe the flounder may be in deeper water. Also the dredger was
there when we were catching them.
I use a spinning rod or boat rod with a spreader rig and sea worms.
Depending on the tide(current) you may need 8+ ozs weight.
Drop lines are real good if you have them. You can really feel them
bite.
Where are you docked. I am also in the merrimac at Rivers edge marina,
just up river from the bridge.
