| That Saturday would also be extremely tough for anybody in
Wayside Bassmasters - we have to be out on the Ct. River the
next morning at 07:00. I had a blast at last year's "Mighty Quin"
event, and I'd love to do it again this year - just not on
the night of 7/21. Friday night 7/13, 7/20, or 7/27 or Saturday
night 7/14 would be the best.
Dr. Dick, Mike_L, etc - how do guys you feel about it?

We (Wachusett Bassmasters) have a club tournament scheduled on
Lake Quinsig Friday July, 20 1990. So I would strongly advise not
using that date.

| Hey Gitzit,
I'd love to be your netman again but I can't make it on the 6th
thru the 15th of July as I will be in Labrador catching some serious
Brown Trout and such. What a nice Dad I have to take me up to Labrador
for a pre-wedding gift and probably my last trip while I'm single.
Any other dates are fine with me. As long as there are some ducks
to try and catch. Ya that's right ducks! I got ahold of one last Sat.
and boy what a lunker that would have made.
Gitzit and I were on the North shore I think. The shore where all
the wind was blowing towards. Anyways, here we are fishing when I cast
up on the shoreline with a white Tornado spinnerbait. As the lure hits
the water and the line is settling off goes this pair of ducks. A male
and female. Well, out of nowhere, the male duck happens to catch my
line as it flys away! As it flys away, my line keeps going until the
lure pops out of the water and finds its way to the poor ducks bottom.
Here I am yelling, "Hey Keith, look out as the line goes tight and the
duck comes crashing down in the water. Get the net I thought as I was
wondering how the heck am I going to get my spinnerbait off of this
pissed off duck! Well, somehow the line was cut and away the duck
went. We didn't see any lure attached to him as he flew away. But
after that I knew that this tourney had gone down the drain! My
favorite Tornado! With luck like that, who knows what will happen at
Quinsig!
Congratulations to the Les team. I had fun and met a lot of new
people. See you all at many more tournies.

| Ray,
Sounds like the old conflict of dates no matter what you pick. It makes
no difference to me. The only thing I'd be against is having it the same night
that another club is also out on the water (like sully mentioned). Even though
Quinsig is big enough we shouldn't jump in on another event, doesn't make for
good neighbors.
Pick the time, your the coordinator, if I can make it I'll be there and
give you a hand if needed. If you pick a date I can't make, no big deal I won't
lose any sleep.

| I think the main reason no NHerites made it down last weekend was
because so many of us had a NHB tournament on Winnisquam on Saturday.
I'd try and make it down for a Friday night tournament. We have
NHB tournaments scheduled for 7/14 and 8/1, so 7/20,27 would be good
for us.
I, too, try and schedule only one torunament per weekend, and preferably
not for every weekend of the month - but I think I could get away with
sneaking in a Friday night tourny.
Where is Quinsig anyway? Any campgrounds on the lake? It'd be nice
to be able to crash right after the tourny, rather than driving back
to NH.

The mighty Quin is about 11 miles west of Rte 495 on Rte 290. The
ramp is only 1/2 mile from the highway or so. easy to get to, and some
great bass fishing at night, it's well lit by the city and the ramp is
great. COME ON DOWN!!!!! Hey HSJ Bring your money!!!

No problem, I've been insulted by better people than you, and throw out
of better places than this. I'll be there, rods ready, transducers draging,
and all 30 ponies screamin.
Oh by the way did I tell you I think my live well is to big, this must
be causing a gross imbalance between the front to back weight. This directly
relates to a much higher drag coefficient on both the water and in the air, thus
causing at least a 20 mph reduction in speed. But the live well serves a much
greater purpose on a SMALL BOAT, which we all know from your note that Small
Boats are only good for one thing HOLDING THE BEER.
Hey, you know come to think of it, I'll bet my radio antenna is too wide.

| hey, Les...night tournies are my FAVORITE kind of events. That's usually
when I pick up my 7 lb PLUS fish! I just might be inclined to fish this one
if it's on a Friday night. I'd prefer to fish it with someone else who
knows the "Mighty Quin". Another possible problem during July is that i
will probably have to do DECworld duty. But I should be able to schedule
around that.
BTW...why should I bring my $$$ when I'd be coming home with yours!!??!
BTW...any of you guys thinking of joining us NHerites in our June 16 tourney
on the Merrimack??

| Well I went out last night with Satelite Gary for some nice night
fishing on the mighty Quin. It was a little slow but we did get a
few on Gitzits (3 keepers) and a bunch of rock bass. Also I hooked
in to a 6 lb pike, what a fight, I never caught one that big on a rod &
reel. After Gary netted the Pike it promptly bit a big hole in his net
and flopped around on the floor. The added pike slime on his boat
caused a speed reduction of .000000028384656435235278567038567 M.P.H.
Seemed like it took forever to get back to the ramp. 8>)
Anyways the water level seemed a bit down for all the rain we had
and the fish were not all that aggressive. But since Gary did put the
first keeper in the boat I will buy him coffee. Some of the weeds in
the normal weedbeds are near the surface already. I will be going out
there often over the next month or so I will keep the info coming in on
this note.

I will attest,
MY FISH have not yet arrived at my favorite holes in the lake yet. It
has been a bit slow, but I left a note for them to return. The note
said,
ATTENTION:
All fish that were here last year, please be in the same spot this
year. I will be back on the 20th & 21st of July to take you for your
yearly ride up the lake.
NOTE: If you see anything resembling a satellite dish pertruding from
another boat please put this note on thier hooks.

We had fun at this outing last year, but this year's
tournament sort of got scheduled to be the Saturday night
before the Sunday morning Wayside club tournament on the
Ct. River at Chicopee, and I'm not entirely convinced that
we really want to do two tournaments back to back (with only
6 hrs apart including 2 on the road...).
I'd expect that's probably why we haven't heard from Dr. Dick, and Mike_L...

of the leader board. Hey are you sure that isn't a misprint from last year?
Gitzit told me that our fish was 22" and 14 lbs. Your scale must have been off.
I'm looking forward to this year. Hopefully me and Johnie D will be culling by
9 pm and watching Madonna,Cher,and Seduction, on MTV when I use my Satelite
transducer as a Radar Dish.

| If we go 7 to 1 we may get stuck paying a $5 ramp fee. The guy at the

The only reason it was in the bottom of my tackle box is that day
I only brought my gitzit tackle box. it was WALL TO WALL bottom to
top gitzits.

smelling of skin so soft so we challanged his to a 1 fish tourny.
Winner to drink free at Macquales. Guess what WE HAD TO BUY DRINKS!

Shamrock (SLAMrock) out there with black-light neon glowing-- This is not
a Budlight sign! Because anything else is just a lite!!
Get your cocktails early! But if you do run out of beer I should be
easy to locate. Just look for the neon glowing Shamrock with all the
fish in the livewell enjoying Ice cold ones.

| Last night there were three of the teams out there fishing till
midnight. Seems from the conversation at the ramp that they were
hitting on everything everywhere. Gary and I put 5 in the boat, but
only 3 keepers. My Partner Paul was out there witha buddy they caught
7 4 were keepers. The Gitzit said he put 9 in the boat all keepers,
utlizing a creative measurement technique not yet approved by the
National Institute of Standards and Technology 8>O
Worms seem to be the lure. I LOVE SUMMER WORMIN 8>)
Boy the fish are really on in Quinsig now, July nights seem to be the
best fishing on that lake over the past few years that I have been
fishing. I will be out there on Saturaday night, anyone else wanna
go we could meet at Macquales for a quick pop some time during the
night, let me know.

fishing during the daylight hours of July. With 2 night tournament this
month it is a great time to get MEGA night fishing in.

| Hey Les,
I never concidered that contraption with the Mickey Mouse Bobber
with a Sail on it the "killer lure", but it goes to show that I never
pay attention to what your doing anyhow. Hell you'd tell me if I'd
listen to you, that every lure in your box is a killer.
On a serious note though, Les is right, the fish seem to be really
active at night on Quinsig this year. Just about every good looking
spot you try seems to yield a fish or two with the old standards always
producing. Heck I don't even have to turn on my satelite dish to find
them anymore.
If the Fishing holds up like this till tourney time
everyone should catch something and have fun, the top finishers will
most likely have to bring in as Ray Scott says "A fine Limit of Bass".
I'll really go out on a limb here and say that Gitzit might even weigh
in more than one fish for once.

and Johnie D. were brought up on a real LAKE (CANDLEWOOD). We were catching

But I'm the best short catcher you know. I'll admit Saturday
night was a little disappointing, more shorts than I care to think
about( alot like fishing with Gitzit).
I'll go out on a limb here and conceed 1st place to you. Hell you
been on the water at night more than the bass. You've somehow again
managed to upgrade to a excellent partner (we both know Quinsig isn't
Craigs strenght). No doubt about the quality of the boat you'll be
on(gee are you sure a 20ft bass boat has enough deck up front ?). I
can't think of a weakness, the deck is stacked in your odds.
But remember when your on that top rung of the ladder and you slip
and fall, it's along way down. As far as breakfast, Gitzit's going to
take care of that for you. My hand isn't looking to good, my partner
has had something come up and cancelled on me. So I might be home
Saturday night watching MTV but I rather doubt it.
I'm going out to put some bass in the boat, with my last two
stellar performances in DEC tournies, I'm hoping the odds will finally
fall in my favor( 0 fish, motor fire first one, one fish at this one
last year). But you know what I'll be throwing, if their on I'll keep
you and Paul honest, if not, I have to suffer listening to you and
Tadry for another year.

I only got a jon boat. My partner, who I agreed to fish this thing
with over the winter, had a 16' one just like yours, a few weeks ago
he just decided to sign on the dotted line. Remember once the sun

were out past midnight.

We were right!! That was indeed Mr Surrette that we saw screaming
down the lake in an aluminum mini monster! And it was his Jeep that

NIGHT in his prefish! Why didn't we think of that? Prefish the
lake and if you do well THEN you sign up!!

| Yes it's true, the mighty Bassco had to really beat it out of me. I
couldn't take it anymore when he threatened to take away my Creme worm, the one
with the hook harness, propellers and red BBs. Damn Les you don't play fair.
Ray stop giving away my secret spots or else you have to pay me more
than you already have to let me, let you, fish with me. I was fishing my other
secret spot last night when some guy in a blue boat with a 125 force engine
started harrasing me. He said "hey what are you doing in 150 ft of water
fishing for Tuna"? I said "look, first of all fix your damn light that ain't
working" then I threw him a candle to use, then I said " it's an unconfirmed
fact that the big Bass at Quinsig, school with the Tuna there at night".

Yup,
The ole Shamrock blue-out it's mast light last night. I'm putting
around (in the dark) and stopped at what I thought was a fellow fisherman.
My boat was in 50ft of water so I thougt it I was bugging a trout
fisherman when I asked him if he had a screwdriver.
Then this guy throughs me a greater media cable tool box full of tools
that would defineatly mount satellite dishes... Could it be??
YES It was Madd Matt. His transducer was so big he thought it read
5 ft but it was actually 50ft! No wonder why the fishing was slow...
Let me tell you folks, Gary CAN take a joke. In fact, He's a really
nice guy. He had everthing I needed to relight my candle and continue

Paul and I got our stradegy all planned out.We are going to fish only 2 spots

I haven't been out this week but with this HOT weather I have heard that the
bass have really turned on at night. So it should be a great time. Although
Gary said it has been slow on Monday Tuesday and Wendseday, Boy gary your
taking this thing real seriously. I heard $ully has been catching 2 to 3 dozen
a night for the past week, Any truth to that?
BTW Gary How much did Ray pay you?? Story I heard is that you paid him and
you arent allowed to run the trolling moter for obvious reasons.
Hey Ray dont take his money but stick to the other part of your agreement.

cat). Your luck is about to run out. 90% of what you catch still couldn't
match up to as you call it the only fish I've ever held.

Me....I had to come up with a new partner....so change that
Swivel Huff...[used to be a good friend of mine...:-)] to
Tom Pierce.....but no problem.....we'll give you hosers
a run for this one...

| Guys,
THANKS !! I'll be a little more humble than my partner because we
all know here today gone tomorrow. I will admit that I expected to do
well and felt that alot of teams would be bringing a limit to the
scales. My partner did call it and we did do it, as far as first place.
I won't lie this feels good real good, what felt even better was you
shaking my hand afterwards and saying great job.
I'm not going to get to long winded about how,what,where or why.
If for some reasons you want specifics drop me a mail message. The
bottom line is we started in an area that we had a hunch might produce,
it was the entire shore line from the 290 bridge to the RT 9 bridge at
different spots. I used the same lure all night which was a 4" Kalin
worm usally refered to as a Finess Bait. Most all the fish weren't
close to any structure other than weed beds. Most came from 10-15' of
water.
Both Ray and I were pretty amazed at how well this pattern worked,
both of us have caught most of our fish well beyond the RT 9 bridge in
the past. We had 5 fish in the boat by 9, 7 by 10, and 9 by 11 and
fished for # 10 the rest of night but never got another keeper in the
boat.
Again no magic lure or technique, just each of us throwing what we
had the most confidence in and coming up with a strategy that for once
paid off. Now if I can only learn how to get my damn boat on the
trailer the first try I'll be doing good. I had alot of fun and wish
I could produce like this everytime out. Saturday night was our night.
Most likely it will be somebody elses the next time.

Everyone taking note that there seems to be a certain
name that keeps turning up in the standings?? I'll give
ewe a hint it begins with a K and always endsup with fish.
I saw a worried look on Mad Matts face when Rick and The Keg
came to the scales with fish.If we had caught one more we
would have had your lunch.Note only 7 fish and only a half
pound out of first.
Where were all the big fish?? I was sure someone would
land a hawg.I'll tell ewe Rick and I used a new bait made
by Poptop lure company.Its called the Nunya.We used
crankbaits,buzzbaits,worms,spinnerbaits,but nothing worked
as well as the six inch NUNYA.I tell ya everytime I threw
that Nunya out ewe could see wakes coming from all over the
Lake.
I guess that barrel of Dioxin I dumped in Les' and Daves
spots did the trick.Oh and Les I'm still waiting for the
fifty ewe owe me for buzzing The Shamrock all night last
Wednesday.
Good time and I didn't fall out of the boat!

has been working great. In the past 3 weeks I have caught quite a

Can you believe it? He doesn't even know what a NUNYA is? I haven't
used anything but a NUNYA for the last month. I'm telling you brown is the
color. Up in VT last week I had 5 fish in an hour at 13.5 pounds total.
No need to say more. The best part was on the second cast, 4 pound fish.
The killer was the guy I was fishing with got the big goose egg. Needless
to say he didn't have a Brown Nunya on.

The Nunya is a lure I developed when Rich and I went
to Lake Ontario.We caught well-over 200 smallies on this
bait and boats were coming out of nowhere to see what the
heck bait we were using (Rich remember the geek with the
glasses).Anyway if anyone would like more info on this

Rick and I were catching fish all night! Too many shorts
to count even with my shoes off!! Rick had an oar out batting
fish back into the water cause they were jumping in the boat and

You left off the most important part of the Lake Ontario
trip! We won first place in a three day tourney. We were culling fish
after the first hour every day.
If you are interested in this lure send a message to JUPITR::NEAL
or WRKSYS::ALLINSON. These bad boys are only available to Catch and
release fishermen. Other wise the lakes would be decimated. I
understand the State of NY is already trying to ban the NUNYA after our
tournament success. Hell they banned the KEG and I, why not our favorite
lure? Great things go together.

First I want to congratulate everyone who caught ANY fish Saturday
night, especially 1st and 2nd place!! Tough night to put that many in
the boat!! Good Fishing!!
It seems that small lures were the way to go that night. Four of
our keepers came on small worms fished ~8-10 feet down on steep shores
and the other one on a spinnerbait. We also caught LOTS of shorts.
I have to admit it feels good to make a few (VERY few) bucks at one
of these tourneys instead of just paying all the time. The Kiv and I
manage to squeak into the top third most of the time and with only 10
teams showing up I guess we had to get into the money. Does this mean
we'll never place 1st unless only 3 boats show?? Only time will tell!!
Hey Kiv! After reading the results I realized that if we had only
worked that big lunker we found by that downed tree (Had to be 6lbs.!)
for another 2 minutes we might have put it in the boat and placed 1st!
Bassmaster, thanks for the pre tourney beer and I'm happy NOT to
have you tow us in this year!! Kiver Murphys old 7hp may be slow but
it always runs!
Last but not least......Mr. Less Bass... Thanks for catching......
.......LESS BASS!!!! Murph and I are going to spend YOUR money on
something fitting......................WEENIES!!
