| There's a motel in Laconia called Barton's that looks fairly
reasonable, and there's an enclosed shopping mall nearby that has just
completed construction of an upper level that contains lots of motel
rooms. Sorry, I forget the name. Call Laconia Chamber of Commerce, they
might know. It's right on Weirs Blvd.

You might want to look into some campgrounds. Last year we stayed
at a place apx 5 min. from the Gilford Marina, and about 15 min. from
the beach. I think the average price for a tent site was only $ 12.00.
If you don't mind roughing it a bit, then this is a good alternative.
Most parks have a bathroom/shower set up, and a good many have a basic
general store for the things you forgot. I'm sorry but I don't recall
the name of the park we stayed at. I know I can relax alot better when
I am in the woods with my tent/wife/hammock/cooler/radio/good eats....
I can go on forever with this, I guess you could say I enjoy camping.
I hope this helps

| Try Ames Farm in Gilford. You may be able to just rent a room in some
of the properties they have. I don't know the rates, but be aware that
May is the time the lakers and salmon are not deep, and they're easier
to take. Any place offered commercially on the water may be expensive
for a week. Camping sounds like the best shot.
