FORT MEYERS INFO. I will be going to ft. meyers area in the begining of march and would like info on any good areas that will either rent boats or a reasonable guide service. I will probably only get 1 or 2 days of fishing in and im not really interested in shiner fishing. IS this the time of year that bass spawn in florida???? Also how much are licenses for 1 or 3 days. I will be spending most of the time on PINE ISLAND. any info will be appreciated. thanks in advance, mark

I spent some time fishing just south of Ft. Meyers, last summer. If you go south apx 1/2 hr to Marco Island the marina has good prices on rentals for the day or half day. There is some charter boats but that can cost $$$$. We rented a 20ft cntr. cons. w/90hp. for 8 hours that cost about 100.00 including gas. BUT you have to stay in the innercostal waters. (still good fishing) also If you do go to the Island on the same road as the Marco River Marina is Snooks Inn, they have the best steamers I have had so far. While the wife and I were there we had 20 doz. (no$hit) Good Stuff !! by the way that was over a ten day stay. Have fun, stay off the bottom , lots of big cat's, fun to catch but they have nasty stingers. John |
