Who has gone surfcasting off the Glouster Jetty? I'm thinking of going there this Sunday & would like to be able to find the road to get there? I have driven down by the Eastern Point Area but seenm to allways miss the road out there. Cod fishing would most likely be prime right off the Jetty with a cold front blowing in and westerly winds predicted for sunday.. Anyone want to join us? Walt

Its been years since I've fished there - but from what I remember... you want to look on your right (assuming you're comming from Glouster - following the harbor shore). The road to Eastern point branches off from the main road at a shallow angle on a turn and there may be some sort of gardhouse or gabezo nearby. The coastguard station is perhaps a mile from the turnoff. Again, from what I remember - parking isnt too bad. There use to be signs implying the road and the nearby area were for "residents only". I think that's true but you're allowed to drive to the coastguard station/jetty. Seems to me the Mass Audobon (sp) society secured permission to park and use the area. You mignt want to check with them (259-9500). btw: never had any luck with cod there but 1/3 of the way out there use to be a good flounder hole. (inside) | |||||

Naw! I didn't get a chance to go. The weather was too nice & I had to chip my old tractor out of the Ice out back & do some fencing around the garden. I got my Priorities screwed up again I guess? I'm looking at it in the perspective that if I get all my yardwork done for the year early I can spend more time fishing and diving when summer comes. Anybody got a few hundred yards of dirt they want to give away? (Just one of the yard projects). Hopefully it will rain next Sunday if and only if my boat engine is noit ready to go back in the hull. If it's that kind of day I'll sneek out to the Glouster Jetty around 07:00. Anybody want to join for a rainy, cold, Cod trip? Walt |
