| I happen to have an old abstract (1986) of the fishing laws
and it quotes that you must have a liscense at age 15 or older.
I don't beleive there has been a change to the age requirement,
but check to be sure.

| .1 Thanks for the info. I will try to verify it as you suggest.
Would be kind of embarrassing to get nabbed by the warden in front of
all the scouts.
Here's an icefishing tip that I and a couple buddies tried a few years
ago. In an area that is quite weed infested (Hydrilla, I think it's
called) we wanted to increase our chances of catching some good size
bass through the ice. (We catch and release.) During the summer we
got about three old metal frame bed springs and covered them with black
plastic sheeting. We then carried them by canoe into our favorite cove
and lowered them into the weeds where they sunk to the bottom (about
4'). Then we carried out about 2 - 3 buckets of sand and spread the
sand over the places where we dropped the springs. Each location was
carefully marked by shoreline landmarks. The result was three
"natural" sandy bottom holes in a big weedbed. (The bottom elsewhere
is all mud and weed choked.) We figured the areas would provide a
nesting area in the warm months and "hot spots" in the winter.
Did they ever! We would regularly get 5+ pound largemouths off these
beds. Lots of fun. As I said, we always released the fish.

| Your method of using these Springs to build fish nests, brings
new meaning to the term "Fish Beds"!!! Great idea. Now, where's
this pond??!!

Correct me if I am wrong but i thought I just recently read in In Fisherman
that it's illeagal to alter lake bottoms with brush piles and other
artifical structure.

| Whether this particular act is legal or not is dependent upon your
location. Some states allow creation of structure and habitat while
others don't. In Colorado, the creation of habitat structure is
dependent upon the lake you wish to use. Some lakes allow habitat
structure modifications, others prohibit it. To legally be able to do
this, you must first either RTFM or contact your local DOW.
