1292.0. "What's Hot (Western Wash)?????" by RIPPLE::SAUNDERS_MI (Where the h*ll is Issaquah?) Tue Jan 02 1990 17:48

    How about a new, "What's Hot, What's Not" for Western Washington.

    My input:

    The Snoqualamie is hot right now. Steelies started coming in hordes
    on the 27th, with a 26 pounder landed just down river from Fall
    City.

    Picked up a 10 pounder on the 29th just above Fall City. In 3.5
    hours saw at least 15 fish landed and twice that many played and
    lost.

    The Cowlitz is super hot. A friend of mine reported seeing at least
    200 fish landed near Blue Creek in two days (4 of them were his).

    What else is happenning (steelhead, blackmouths, bass, bottoom fish,
    anything)?

 I've seen a few videos of people catching steelhead. All I can say is I'm
waiting for a chance to tangle with one of those monsters! We "easties"
have a tough time imagining a 3 foot trout- but, boy, what a fish!

 You are lucky to have the opportunity to catch such a magnificent fish.

1292.2A little too much mud now....DECWET::BURFENINGThe STEELHEAD are back!Wed Jan 10 1990 19:552
The Sky' was hot a week ago, but I think it's a little cloudy now.
1292.3All washed out, for awhile...RIPPLE::SAUNDERS_MIWhere the h*ll is Issaquah?Thu Jan 11 1990 12:2912
    Snoqualamie was real muddy and way too high last weekend. Looks
    like everything is in bad shape now and will be for awhile. Even
    Tokul flooded and washed out Fish Hatchery Road and the parking
    area by the bridge. It looked like the bridge is now standing in
    the middle of the creek bed.

    Oh well,

    At least the boat show is here this weekend.

    What's Hot?

    	- A large run of spring chinook blew through Port Angeles last
    week. Bill Watson and I are going out this Saturday to head 'em off at
    Port Townsend. 1.5 to 2 fish per boat at the hook last week and well
    into this week.  OboyOboyOboyOboy.....

    	- Point No Point has been unusually good, with blackmouth to 12 lbs
    2 weeks ago. The tides this last week were horrible and the moochers
    didn't do so well. This next week, beginning Saturday, the tides are
    excellent - About 1 foot of water per hour will ebb between 10 A.M.
    (The high tide) and 4:00 P.M. (Low tide).

    	- Dick Johnson, Mr. Coho, told me that he and a friend limited on
    Fraser River chinook right off of President Point (Note: About 5% to
    10% of all chinook/blackmouth in Puget Sound are from the Fraser River
    in British Columbia - You can tell a Fraser river fish by its short and
    deep body and its very white flesh -- Not deep red ).

    I'll keep you posted.

    Regards,
