| * During the Black Bass spawning season, April 1st to June 30th, all
bass caught must be immediately released unharmed into the waters
from which they were taken and not placed in a livewell. Only
artificial lures may be used at this time.
Would help the population - but this means tournaments would have to use
the 'golden rule' measuring stick and folks would have to TRUST each other...
* Bag limit for Pickerel from 10 to 5 per day.
would rather see it go to no limit!
* Lake trout lakes, a creel limit of two fish, either two lake trout
or two brook trout or one of each.
na... keep the brook trout separate, keep the salmon and lake trout together
* A slot limit on Newfound lake, release all lake trout 15 in. and
under and between 17-20 in.
sure why not...
* Increase the minimum size for salmon in Squam lake to 18 in.
sure why not...
...
would like to see a minimun length limit for bass - and a slot limit for
some lakes...

| I just spent a half hour talking with Dr. McIness Chief of Inland
Fisheries for the State of New Hampshire concerning the first article
concerning the Black Bass Season. He informed me of a modification
of the original article and that a hearing is going on tonight in Concord
for some final inputs.
The modified proposal will read from April 1st to May 14th there will
be a two fish limit. From May 15th to June 15th it will be Catch and
immediate release. From June 15th to June 30th a two fish limit.
Bass clubs can get a permit that will exempt them during the May 15th
to June 15th immediate release. They will however have to release the
fish after the tournament weigh in, no fish will be allowed to be kept
also culling will be from the two fish limit.
At this time they have no idea on how they are going to administer
the permit system. They will be contacting some of the Bass associations
for inputs and assistance to do the permit system.
The Doctor also said that the state will be doing some studies on
the Bass population in the state and will need some assistance in
performing the study. He will be looking for sportman to participate
in taking surveys, observation, boats and driver and some cash from local
federations to assist in the cost. If anyone is interested contact me
and I will let him know that we do have some volunteers willing to
assist him.

| Don B., I'm glad to hear that the F&G is considering the permit
for clubs during that period - that'll make all of us tournament
fishermen happy. I wish I could make that meeting in Concord tonight.
For everyone elses info (Don B. was there):
Jim Flanders, VP of the NH BASS Federation, was at our ABC meeting the
other night and filled us in on the the new laws being considered
(although at that time the permit deal wasn't set). From what Jim had
to say it appears to me that the newly reformed NH BASS Federation is
doing a good job of keeping the F&G aware of the desires of us NH bass
fishermen.
