You might say it was my private lake. I was alone in my boat and
I met another chap alone in his boat. I did muster up 2 fish 1
2lber and a 3 1/2 lber off a hump that was was directly in the
wind. Probably the coldest place to fish but, the fish were
    there.

I got there around 10:00 and stayed till 1/4 of 2.

Rather than posting new topics for every "mini tourny" that we
attempt to get together, lets just use this single topic instead.

I've changed the title of this note. Lets put all future
    mini tournament postings here.

1273.4CXO TOURNAMENT ANYONE????GENRAL::HUNTERfrom SUNNY Colorado, WayneWed Jan 31 1990 17:5733
I am considering the possibility of starting a series of Bass fishing
tournaments for DEC employees for this year. This would be a series of 3 FUN
tournaments for the year. Dates of tournaments have NOT been determined. I am
contemplating the tournaments to be held at John Martin, Bonny, and Horsetooth
Reservoirs mainly due to the size of the lake and LACK OF WATER this year.

A second possibility is to also include Bass Fishing in the DEC
Southwest Tournament. This would be a week long event (including the pre-fish)
and would probably cost in the neighborhood of $200.00 per person for the week.
This tournament would be in the Phoenix area during the same time frame as the
rest of the DEC Southwest tournament. This would be a 2 day, team type
tournament.

If you have any interest in EITHER of these 2 tournament formats,
contact me. I would prefer MAIL so that I can get a distribution list
established. THE MORE, THE MERRIER!!!! I have a preliminary set of rules and
regs., BUT, am open to suggestions, modifications, etc. So, if you get started
now, you can help write the rules to your advantage. :-) Also, PLEASE let
other fishermen that you think would be interested in this KNOW about its
existence. We will probably have a couple of PRELIMINARY meetings (time TBD by
consensus) for rules, dues fees, etc. prior to the first tournament. This is
for FUN and to associate with other employees in a non-work environment more
than the TOURNAMENT aspect. So, if you don't have time for the BIG EXPENSIVE
tournaments but want to fish with a bunch of others in some friendly compe-
tition, let me know so that I know whether this is feasible or not. This is
NOT to be a BASS sanctioned group right now (maybe in the future). However,
conservation will be stressed.

1273.10CXO TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE FOR 1990GENRAL::HUNTERfrom SUNNY Colorado, WayneThu Mar 29 1990 18:0645
The Following things were discussed at the meeting of the CXO Bass Club.

   1) Club is open to all CXO employees, contract employees, or part time
employees. One member of the team must be employed by Digital in some
capacity.
   2) Golden Rules will be used for fish between 12 and 15 inches in length.
Each team must supply their own golden rule. If you don't have a Golden Rule
or don't wish to purchase one, then only fish over 15 inches may be kept for
weigh-in. Use of fish baskets or livewells is required for fish to be brought
to weigh-in
   3) Honor system will be in effect for boats using Golden Rule for fish
weight. Any cheating will disqualify the team and ban them from future events.
For boats using Golden Rules, ONLY ONE fish may be brought to scales for
LUNKER POOL.
   4) There will be NO DUES. Club membership will be THOSE THAT SHOW UP FOR AN
EVENT.
   5) DUE TO THE UNSTABLE NATURE OF DEC BUSINESS RIGHT NOW, THE DEC SOUTHWEST
TOURNAMENT IS IN JEOPARDY!!!! I will try to keep everyone informed of the
future of this event as things start to settle.

1273.12CXO FIRST TOURNAMENT DIRECTIONSGENRAL::HUNTERfrom SUNNY Colorado, WayneMon May 07 1990 13:1760
Ok, after going down to Nee Grande this weekend, here's the tournament
information:

Launch Point is Cottonwood Park and Marina

DIRECTIONS:
If using Colo. 94, Take it East until it DEAD ENDS in US 40/US 287.
Take US 287 South out of Kit Carson to Eads. Stay on US 287 SOUTH out of Eads
approximately 10 miles. The sign for the Marina and campground is on the WEST
SIDE of 287 and is a LARGE RED ARROW!!!! DISTANCE from Mall of The Bluffs is
153 miles. Nee Grande is on the WEST Side of US 287.

If going by way of I-25, US 50, Turn North on US 287. Take US 287
NORTH 15 MILES to Campground turnoff. 187 miles from the Mall of the Bluffs
via this route.

THIS TRIP IS A GOOD 3 HOURS NON-STOP EITHER WAY!!! IF YOU ARE DAY-TRIPPING,
ALLOW TIME TO GET THERE!!!!!

CAMPGROUND AND MARINA IS 3 MILES OFF US 287.

There is a $5.00 launch fee for use of the Marina launch. If you are camping
at the area, boat launch fee is included.

Cottonwood Park offers the following amenities:

	Weekend $25.00

There is a mini-store there with a FEW (VERY FEW) tackle items, some groceries,
ice, minnows (for crappie fishing Sunday if you want to stay), worms, etc. NOT
A FULL SERVICE GROCERY STORE.

After launching, there will be a second boat dock to the SOUTH of the
launch area, due EAST of the general store. Drawing for start, etc. will be
from THIS DOCK!!!!!

	Again, a BASIC RULES STATEMENT:
1) HAVE FUN!!! VIOLATORS WILL BE BANNED FROM FUTURE EVENTS
2) DON'T CROWD YOUR NEIGHBOR (There's plenty of water, cover, etc.)
3) ALL BASS ARE LEGAL (White, Wiper, Black, and Smallmouth)
4) 12 inch MINIMUM (open tail, closed mouth) for legal weight. If using golden
rules, all bass will weigh using LARGEMOUTH BASS RULE. EIGHT fish per
	boat for TOTAL WEIGHT!!!!
5) If using GOLDEN RULE, only 1 fish may be brought to scales for LUNKER pool.
6) ENJOY YOURSELF. These tournaments are for FUN and MEETING OTHER
	FISHERMEN!!! NOT BLOOD SPORT!!!!
7) BOAT SAFELY!!!!! THERE ARE LOTS OF SUNKEN TREES, ETC. SO, BE CAREFUL!!!
