| What in the world would the town gain by closing that ramp? It's in a
great location - not in anybody's way, good parking, and it's the only
launch on what is probably the most popular section of the river in NH!
donmac - who will be upset if they close that one.......

| We had our final tourny there on OCT 1st. It was to start at 7AM,
most of us arrived at 6:30 and at least 20 boats had already launched
and there were more than 20 Waiting to launch!! (what a circus)
We decided to go to the upper part only after we found out that the
club launching was from the Burlington. Ma. area, and they were expecting
a "few" more members to show (they were probably lost)... I guess
this is the kind on thing that gets the "natives" upset???

| O.K, O.K, I was there. The existing launch is owned and "maintained"
(ha-ha) by the town of Hooksett. N.H. F&G want to build a new, state
maintained, ramp on that part of the river and did a study on where
this ramp can be built. Of the five locations investigated only
one had all the right "stuff", parking for up to fourty cars and
trailers, an area for toilet facilities, access to the river ect,
ect. THIS SOUNDS GREAT!!! But wait, it's in a residential area and
the residents don't want, and I quote, another Salem I93 rest stop,
or a place where kids partying and drinking, cause the place will
be fully lighted big time.
Well, why can't the police patrol this area??? He says that his
men won't have time to get down to this area on a lets say, hourly
basis. Now the residents say, there's too many fast boats on the
river now, what's it going to look like if we have this great ramp??
I said, hey, your getting extra monies for the reg's of boats in
your town, instead of putting this in your general fund, allocate
it to the police dept. and N.H. Safety Dept. to patrol the ramp
and river, and let them enforce the laws that exist today. Then
some lady jumped up and said "What ever happen to house rule, we
don't want a ramp on the river at all". Now the S H T F. Some elected
offical from the state got up and said "There will not be any more
"House Rule", You people don't OWN the river and a new ramp will
be built, if another suitable place can't be found this is where
the ramp will be built. He said, "I represent more than just you
people here and you probably won't vote for me again, but I also
represent alot more in the surrounding towns and they want a ramp.
To be continued.....

| Speaking of ramps....
late yesterday I stopped by the Merrimack River ramp in Concord and some
a**hole PARKED his truck and trailer right ON THE RAMP, totally blocking it
for anyone else to use!! He obviously figured that it was too late for
anyone to bother launching and he was obviously too LAZY to pull the trailer
up to park it. This guy was in a big Ski Natique and finally came barreling
up river towing a skier. It's a good thing I didn't want to launch!!
Otherwise, he would have found his trailer disconnected and out in the river
plus 4 flat tires! What an inconsiderate bastard!

| You could've left a note on the windshield...
If he had a particle of civilization in him, he would be more
considerate next time. (And if he didn't, maybe he would still
not do it next time, just out of fear for the wellbeing of his
rig....)

Yeah, I thought of doing that. I was so pissed off, though, that I would
have wanted to leave it on the inside of his windshield. Of course, that
would have meant that I'd have to punch out his windshield to do it!
Vindictive S.O.B. that I am....

| Joe, he's lucky you found him and not me. If I drove all the way up
there to fish and found that situation, I would probably leave the
inconsiderate b_____d a note and the air out of two tires. This way
he could waste a couple hours solving his problem, since he ruined my
plans.
