I don't know if the trucks have started to roll but I did read that
the fall allocation of trout is 1/2 of last years. I believe I
read that there would be 20K planted in the 4 WMass districts.

A friend of mine who's up on the trout stocking says they've already
had 1 fall stocking in Mass, with another to come soon.

How about New Hampshire stocking ? Did anyone hear that Newfound Lake
would no longer be stocked with salmon because they weren't doing well
    ?

    Rick,
I hope you heard right, it's about time the State started to realize
that Salmon (and trout) don't do well in most of the lakes they stock
and start support/stock/manage some of the species that are suppose to
be there, as an example, bass!

    Jim,

I partialy agree with you in that sometimes Landlock Salmon aren't the
apropreate fish to stock. Newfound Lake I beleive is the deepest lake
in NH and should definantly support Lake Trout and some other type of
salmonid. I would love to see the state stock brown trout in some of
the larger lakes. They outgrow LL by 10-20lbs in most places that have
both. LL use smelt as the primary forage, while Brown Trout eat
    anything but spinnerbaits. 8-)

from what i can gather the state will no longer stock ll salmon
in newfound, but will stock rainbow trout instead. the reason given
is that there is next to no natural smelt reproduction going on
in the lake. therefore, in the future one can expect lakers and
    rainbows.
