| Hold on there Mrs. Clan!!!
Yes I am planning on organizing the largest fishing tourney
in DEC history. Last year we had 72 this year 100+ Detail will be
posted on an official note sometime in October. Boy people must be
getting the itch, this week alone I have been asked about it at least
3 times. This year I plan on brreaking it down to 9 prize catagories
instead of three, Some guys walked away with toooooo much loot.
I tell you what, I will fish the A-1 site tomorrow and check it out.
I hope we get the N.H. boys down here this year, last year they missed
a great party.

1248.6 | MIGHT NEED A BIGGER LAKE?? | TOLKIN::BLANGELIER | | Tue Sep 19 1989 15:04 | 9 |
|
The summer's over bring on the ice!! If this years tourney is
anything like last years we in for a "REAL BIG PARTY".. Les if
there's going to be over 100+ this year you might want to think
of a bigger lake???? There wasn't that many open spots last year
on the ice with 72 people just think of 28 more people with 5
tilts a piece.

1248.8 | LAKE WHITEHALL???? | TOLKIN::BLANGELIER | | Wed Sep 20 1989 12:20 | 4 |

Well never fished Lake White Hall.. It would have to have a good
range of like pike,bass,pickeral, and maybe muskie's...
|
1248.9 | HOW ABOUT QUINSIG. ???? | TOLKIN::BLANGELIER | | Wed Sep 20 1989 14:31 | 8 |
|
There's alot of nice size fish in there. There was a couple
of nice pike pulled out this past spring includeing that 40+
that was caught but, some how i can't picture a 40+ pike coming
threw the ice... The only problem last year on quinsig. was there
wasn't much ice and the ice they did have didn't last to long..

1248.10 | A1 has alot to offer... | MOOV01::MROWKA | | Wed Sep 20 1989 15:19 | 15 |
|
Let's leave the Ice fishing on A1. It is over 300 acres, it has
Bass, Pike, Tiger Muskie, Pickrel, Calico, Yellow Perch, ETC.
Besides part of the fun is meeting other noters. Last year almost
everyone stayed in the Mill Pond section of A1, that limits you
to 1/6 of the fishable water. Believe me there are Fish back in the
timbered sections, granted it's a bit more challenging to get to your
" TIP UP " in time an play the fish. Seeing we cannot accomodate
all types of boats during open water season, ice fishing is one of the
best ways to fish a tourney at this place. If you need some tips on
where to fish at A1 send me some mail.

1248.11 | TIMBER AREA WAS ALL WATER | TOLKIN::BLANGELIER | | Wed Sep 20 1989 15:32 | 7 |
|
I have no problem with A1. The timber areas looked real good
but, last year there was all open water in the timber section.
I was wondering is there a river or steam that goes threw there
to keep it from frezzeing???

1248.12 | Roughing it on the ice | MOOV01::MROWKA | | Wed Sep 20 1989 16:21 | 11 |
|
Yeah there is a main stream channel through the timber and pond and
also some secondary stream channels. The open water was mostly around
the islands that seperate the pond from the timber, past that the
timber was frozen. The F&G now has a map of A1 available. H**l I will
fish anywhere I should have a portable bob house ready by then, I Just
have to figure out how fit the wide screen TV and lazy boy into it...

this tourney is 5 tilts and a cold 6 pack...

You can count on "The Keg" bein there.After last years
fiasco I wouldn't miss it for the world.There should be
no problems with undersize pike and muskie this year.
I need practice on the little pike so when I go to N.Y.
in March the twenty pounders will give me NO PROBLEM!!

1248.16 | Spread the wealth | PACKER::BACZKO | Gone Fishin' | Tue Oct 03 1989 13:02 | 16 |
| Well I have been giving this thing some thought and I think A-1 will
be the site again since we caught so many Bass and a good number of
short tailed PIKE ( which should be good this year). But here's
a thought. Last year we had 4 pay offs bass, pike, pickeral, tiger
muskie, only bass and pickeral made it and those two guys walked
with a large chunck of change (72 entries worth). I was thinking of
three payoffs for bass and pckeral and 1 or 2 payoffs for Pike and
tiger muskie. I am pretty sure that 3 legal bass and pickeral will come
through the ice, Last year over 40 bass and plenty of pickeral.
But Pike and Muskie may be another story. Any inputs on how to spread
the pot over 4 categories of fish and multiple prizes for each
category.

1248.17 | pay off proposal | HPSTEK::HAUER | | Wed Oct 04 1989 18:46 | 68 |
|
YO Molesta!
Here is my take on how the pay-off should be handled:
* Four categories with 1st, 2nd and 3rd pay-off.
example 100 entrants @ $10.00 = $1000.00 in pay-off money.
* IF all places are covered, then the straight pay-off for all
categories of fish is:
1st $125
2nd $ 75
3rd $ 50
* IF all places are NOT "covered" then I would propose the
following:
example:
pike pick bass musk
125 125 125 _
75 75 _ _
50 _ _ _
left $0 $50 $125 $250 total $425
425 divided by category fish caught in (3) = $141 (approx)
for pike new pay off is
1st $125 + .5(141) = 195.5
2nd $ 75 + .3(141) = 117.3
3rd $ 50 + .2(141) = 78.2
for pick new pay off is
1st $125 + .6(141) = 209.6
2nd $ 75 + .4(141) = 131.4
for bass new pay off is
1st $125 + 1(141) = 266.0
total 998.00 due to approx of 141
This would only require that a calculator be present at the
end of the day, but would cover all possibilities. Plus
if a particular species is "tough" to catch that particular
day....you will be rewarded for it.

Sounds good to me re:1248.17. Gives alot of chances for $$ in
different cat. Keep it to the 3 cat. and maybe a seperate prize
like $25 or whatever for the biggest muskie caught all day. O.K.
i think that we sould get the ball rollin'.

re.19 Ken, last years note for this tourney is 894, the location
of A-1 is in the opening note.
It is a MUST tournament to be at!!! This year, Mr. ICE (I type
that with reluctant fingers) is negotiating with ESPN to cover
the event. I believe that they are going to bring in Madden
to use his tele-illustrater on the replays of us running to all
the flags we will get, and of course show the CLAN huddling
together trying to stay warm during their extended "dry spell"..:-)
Bottom line here is.....mark it down....

Even though there is a GOOD two months of open water fishing yet,
when are you going to kick this "baby" off.
I know for one thing that the KEG with LEGS is waiting with "baited"
breath for this tourney....
And OF COURSE....one just can't get enough CLAN bashing....:-)

it to cool the beer. Now its about that time of year and I see people
out skating but no more mention about a tourny????
So when is it going to happen? I'll be there for sure if I can make the
day?
What kind of regulations? Type of bait? Live weigh in ? etc......
