1241.1 | RT225 on Carlisle/Bedford line | FSHQA1::EPETERSEN | | Fri Sep 08 1989 16:57 | 20 |
| I usually put my scanoe in off of rt 225 in carlisle (actually I
think it's carlisle/bedford line) anyway I go up RT 128 (from RT
2) to RT 4/225 and head towards Bedford - Hancom Air Force Base
(WEST) .... follow RT4/225 through Bedford (you'll pass a small
shopping center on your right with Marshalls/Purity Supreme etc.
you'll go past the RT 62 intersection, and into the center of town
(I guess it's Bedford center, there's a fire station and small common)
anyway keep going and bear right following 225, 225 will then
bear off to the left (there's a volkswagon dealership on the right),
follow 225 for a couple of miles through a residential area, there
will be a dirt road (very wide and bumpy - go slowly) on your right
just before you get to the bridge that goes over the Concord River,
you'll probably get to the bridge have to turn around. It's about
15-20 at the most from 128.
I have had decent luck there this year, no monsters but usually
a few 2-4 lber's. Supposedly there are pike in there but I have
yet to hook into one. Good Luck.

| If you are in Concord Center, go out Old Lowell Road. This is the
road that leads away from Concord Center that is on the left of the
Colonial Inn. So as you are going counterclockwise around the
center, take the first right after you pass the Colonial Inn.
Go down Old Lowell Road a few hundred yards and before you get to the
bridge, there is a dirt road/driveway to the left. This is where I
think most people in Concord put in.

RE.1
Erik,
I sorta caught one (no fish tale). A few friends and I were down where
you had mentioned putting in. After using every lure in my box and
catching nothing I baited a No.4 with a plump crawler and lobbed it out
as far as it's won weight would allow. After about ten minutes my line
started moving up stream. I picked up the rod and nailed it.
At first I thought it was a carp because of the weight and lack of
activity, but when I got it closer to shore I got my first glimpse of
it. Up until today my friends and I thought it was a muskie, but your
statement about pike makes more sense. Anyway I didn't have a net and
I tried to lift it to shore by kind of walking back with the rod tip
up. I had about 3/4 of it's body on shore and it started flipping all
over, wound up spitting the hook out and was back in the water before
I could dive for it. So...I landed it, but didn't keep it.
Lots of bass in that river, but it's contaminated so it's STRICTLY
catch and release.

1241.4 | big splash no fish!! | FSHQA1::EPETERSEN | | Fri Sep 15 1989 10:02 | 10 |
| Yea, I guess it's contaminated. I did watch a fellow drift
fishing for hornpout, he was keeping all he caught. I guess
he's been eating them outta there for a few years now.
I fished there last saturday night until midnight with no luck at
all, all my topwater lures got filled with weeds (even my weedless
were useless), we did have something HUGE jump about 2 feet out
of the water, and about 3 feet from the boat, scared us to death.
