    Does anyone out there have the address for Berkely and Fenwick?
    I have two graphite rods, one from each manufacturer that I purchased
    this year and each one has broken.  They sure don't make them like
    they used to.  Graphite is a fine material and gives the rod great
    sensitivity but it sure is fragile.  These rods broke during normal
    use and storage.  Has anyone out there had a similar experience?

    I believe that both Companies are in California. I know that Fenwick
    is located in Westminster,California.
    
    It has been my experience that Graphite is much stronger than fiberglass.

    i recommend you call fenwick first.  i broke the tip section of
    a rod this summer and when i called the guy on the other end said
    that they don't repair rods, but will sell you at cost a new rod.
    they may have changed since july.  i would be interested hear what
    happens in your case.

    No more fenwicks for me.  The reel seat has come loose on a my fenwick
    surf rod.  - This is the second rod with the same problem -
    
    good blanks but bad construction

    Thanks for the replies.  I hope I am as lucky in getting these rods
    replaced as some of you were.  It always seems that this stuff breaks
    after you throw out the paperwork.

    Berkley has always been great.
    
    The only time I had a problem was this last year with a model X50
    Even the Customer Service was on back order for them  I just
    got a new one yesterday and them must have a new type 
    of rod.  It's called a Bionix Plus, looks reel cool it seems the
    High priced vectors must not be selling, because this rod has
    all thge vector features, like the solid fushion tip and such,
    It's a marron black insted of black,  With a new handle design.
    
    Wish It was for me!

    A couple of weeks ago, I called Fenwick and explained I had an IFGA
    12lb class rod which had broken the AFCO roller guides one-by one
    off while stringing the line through them.  The rod was a $200.00
    & rod some 8 years ago, and I was advised that class is no longer
    made, but for me to keep the stainless uni-butt assembly, and ship
    the rod back, and they would most likely replace the rod rather
    than wrap new AFCO roller assemblies to it.  They asked me if I'd
    mind if they substituted an IFGA 30lb class rod for it.  I reluctantly
    (ha, ha) stated, "well, ok" and am anxiously awaiting to see what
    they do.  I shipped the rod just about 2 weeks ago.

    Bad news on my most recent communication with Fenwick on my class
    #12 rod.  Fenwick refused to replace the roller assemblies on the
    AFCO eyes and told me because the rod had been used in saltwater,
    it was considered abused.  They did offer me a certificate where
    I could purchase an IFGA class #30 rod for approx. $150.00, but
    I was so angry that they considered salt abuse on the metal a valid
    excuse, I told them to keep the certificate, send me back the blank,
    and I would be certain to spend the $150.00 on any other manufactures'
    rod.

    I"M AMAZED!!!   I'm guessing that the rod in question is a 12# (IGFA)
    Class set-up. And FENWICK claims use in saltwater  is an abuse?!?!?!?
    Who the *^&% do they think use XX-CLASS tackle???? And where do
    they think all those 12# records like Marlin, Sailfish, etc. come
    from??? Although....this could be a result of Fenwick being acquired
    by Berkely...what do they know about Salt Water in the mid-West
    anyhow.
    
    Since Fenwick won't do anything, try contacting AFTCO - they understand
    where their product is used.
     Make sure to mention Fenwick's comments.

    I still haven't received the rod blank back from Fenwick, but from
    some of the other replies, that may take awhile.  I guess I just
    didn't feel like arguing the point about the rusted AFTCO guides.
    It was funny because any rust that could have been present on them,
    had to be beneath the wrappings, as none was visible.  A dealer
    told me I should have just run a piece of sash cord through the
    remaining guides and stressed the rod til it split.  Then, it would
    have been a replacement rather than a disappointment.  The dealer
    also suspected it may have been influenced by the fact that Berkley
    now owns Fenwick.  In any case, I shall not go Fenwick again.  In
    fact, I just traded my 9' Fenwick graphite flyrod for a Martin
    multiplier fly reel, and think I got the better of the deal!  And,
    for the same $150.00 I could have purchased a class 30 IGFA rod
    for in their settlement, I found a Penn International Series stand-up
    rod for at Spag's in Worcester.  All they did was hurt themselves,
    because I was a staunch believer in Fenwick for years, and over
    its life (which is not over if they send the #!@$%#$%^* blank back),
    I had alot of fun and alot of fish on.  
    In any event, if I'm fortunate enough to get out again this season
    for tuna going back down the coast, I'll use my Daiwa Beefstick.
    Besides, the grip is not as cold or as hard as the stainless steel
    uni-butt was on the Fewnick.
