The ommission is understandable, especially knowing that the team of HSJ &

you have trembled before us, so no apologies are needed.

infamous Canobie Lake outing on that day. As much as I want to fish

any money into the Chris and Les fishing fund this time around, even
though I was planning on dusting them. I hope everyone catches some
fish.

Detailed directions to Lake Monomonac can be found in 323.40, 323.60, and
1212.22.
Basically the ramp (Valley Marine) is off Rt 202 in Ringe, NH about
100 yds north of the Winchendon,Mass border. All states can run their boats
here and either MA or NH licenses are recognized. This lake has give us
Deccies a rough time the 3 or 4 times we've held tournaments there, but it is
a pretty lake and we generally have a good turnout.

Actually, your "little tiff" is common one. The "seriousness" of

1212.50 | Tournament Info | MOSAIC::MACINTYRE | Terminal Angler | Tue Sep 19 1989 12:47 | 72 |
| WHERE : Monomonac Lake, Rindge, NH
WHEN : Saturday, Sep 30, 1989 - 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
WHO : Anyone is invited as long as one member of the team is a DEC employee.
WHAT : 2 man Team Event (2 people per boat)
FEES : $20/team and (optional) $5/person for the Hawg Pool
(plus a launch fee which should only be a couple of dollars)
LIMITS: 10 bass/team
SIZE : 12" minimum length, measure with pinched tail.
Lake Monomonac resides on the Rindge, NH - Winchendon, Mass border, which
means that boat registrations and fishing licenses for either state will do.
This is why we have selected Monomonac for most of our interstate tournies.
As stated above, any two man team consisting of at least one DEC employee
is welcome to attend. A boat of some sort is required, be it a canoe,
bass boat, cruiser, or anything in between.
We'll be launching at Valley Marina in Rindge, NH, located on Rt 202 about
200 yds north of the Rindge NH / Winchendon MA border.
For more detailed directions check out notes 323.40-323.60, there's probably
5 or 6 different sets of directions in there.
Park in the sand lot on the East side of 202 just south of the marina.
You will pay your entry fee when you launch your boat. The tournament
organizer will be there with a clipboard collecting money and handing
out hard copies if the rules that are posted in the following note.
The Start
---------
The tournament starts at exactly 7AM. Please arrive early and try to have
your boat in the water by 6:30 at the latest.
At 6:45 all boats with >= 5hp that are IN THE WATER may draw for starting
postion. After 6:45 each boat in the water will get the next starting
position available. If you have >= 5hp and would rather not draw for position,
you may "bring up the rear".
High powered boats - please use extreme caution during the start, remember
this is not the Classic. It's a casual tournament for fun, with many small
boats around.
Small boats - if you draw a low number starting postion and there's a 150hp
bass bustin' battle station behind ya, don't try and lead the way, please
bear to the right so that they may pass safely.
Changes from past tournaments
------------------------------
In addition to your entry fee, the tournament director will also be collecting
money for the launch fee. This fee has not yet been negotiated with the
marina. We should be able to get a discount. It will probably be a
couple of dollars.
(Note: This next item may be up for some debate. But due to a
situation that came up at the last Fall Classic, I think it's fair.
Let us know what you think.)
ARRIVE ON TIME! If you show up late you may not fish the tournament unless
you are lucky enough to find the tournament director out on the water and
notify him that you are now in the tournament - fishing before you find the
tournament director will disqualify you from the tournament.
---
Please read the o-fish-al tournament rules and regulations that are
posted in the following note!
Ok, that's it for now. Keep those entries coming, Don Mac

1212.51 | Tournament Rules | MOSAIC::MACINTYRE | Terminal Angler | Tue Sep 19 1989 12:54 | 48 |

3. ONLY artificial lures allowed - NO live/dead bait allowed (excluding
pork strips/frogs).
3. ONLY ONE line/person in the water at a time.
4. NO trolling.
5. "CATCH & RELEASE" policy in effect.
6. 50 Yard Rule - All boats must keep at least 50 yards distance from
another boat's "territory". No crowding-in.
7. PAYOFFS - # Teams Payoffs
------- ---------
2-5 1 - 100%
6-10 2 - 60/40
11-20 3 - 50/30/20
21+ 5 - 45/25/15/10/5
Note that we're talking about the actual number of teams
that show up, not how many that registered.
Hawg Pool: Heaviest Bass 100%
8. Starting time will be 7AM prompt from the marina. All powered boats
with motors > 5 HP will draw for starting positions. Canoes & boats
with < 5 HP will leave AFTER all powered boats depart to prevent
potential swamping from their wakes.
9. Final weigh-in will be at 3:00 PM at the launch site for ALL. Given
that this event is an all-day affair, it should not be necessary to
grant additional time extensions for the smaller boats.
10. DEAD FISH AT WEIGH-IN - There will be an 2oz penalty for any dead
fish.
11. SHORT FISH AT WEIGH-IN - All fish that not obviously greater than 12
inches will be measured at the weigh-in. There will not be a penalty
- you will just be harassed for trying to weight in a short fish! 8^)
11. See Rule #1!

Now, now, now. Don't everyone jump at once. I know all that have

| Well...the BIG day is almost upon us. It looks like we'll have a good
turnout once again. Long-range forecasts predict a sunny day with temps in
the mid to upper 60's. I suspect that we'll have a heavy fog early in the
A.M. like last year. It'll be interesting to see how the HarborMaster's
Party Barge holds up if it gets windy (as it usually does!).
It looks like we still have less than 20 teams, so there will be a 3-place
payoff. If we can get it up to 20 or more, we move to a 5-place payoff.
Hey, Mr. Easter, how about keeping out a $1 for the SMALLEST bass caught??
That should prove to be interesting. Anyone got a scale that is accurate
to a quarter of an ounce??
See y'all there...bright 'n early.

Well........that so and so that had the boat I was to fish in
pulled out on me.......BUT that does not mean the Gitzit' won't
be at the tourney to try to retain my 23rd place and 16th place
finishes that I have had in the last two...:-) I will just be
fishing in the "Ted Williams Special" instead.
Since "Ted" is electric motor powered, I could use an additional
battery for the day. If anyone can provide me with one I certainly
would appreciate it.
So.........with that portion complete......See you all on Saturday.

| I have good news and bad news again.
The Good News -- The Bandit cant make it -- so no scum line this year.
He could, but a serious golf match was brewing with old friends who
have come into town..... you know the story..
The BAD News -- North Woods Coots can make it. So if we have a nice
beach day again Coots will want to hang around there. With my 12x50
binocclars.
If we dont, have a nice beach day, the boat with all the screaming
and yelling will be ours. (Not because we are catching fish mind you
-- just having a good time.)

| I've got just one small question...
W H Y A M I D O I N G T H I S A G A I N ! ! ? ?
Flether and I went out yesterday for a few hours of prefishing (er, excuse
me, more like total abuse!). Aside from fighting the typical gale-force
winds that Monomonac is known for, the pickeral (and a few yellow perch)
were having a field day with our baits! I think MassMaster was the one that
suggested a pool for pickeral last year...it's beginning to sound better all
the time! (BTW...remember to ask Fletcher how to LIP A PICKERAL! He's good
at it!)
Water temps are considerably cooler than last year's tourney by almost 7-8
degrees! In fact, Fletcher had to reach down to adjust the LCR transducer
and his hand was blue when he pulled it out! Aaaarrrghh! We were talking
about blowing this thing off and heading north for some REAL smallmouth
fishing.
I don't believe that last year so many of you (me included) swore never to
do Monomonac again and here we are...subjecting ourselves to more abuse.
Well, it looks like Lavender and Hootin' Coots have the right idea. Hey
Jack, bring plenty of brew...Fletch and I may end up joining you EARLY (like
7:05 AM!)
Well...I guess we'll see you all there. I'd say "good luck" but that won't
even help. Anyone got a good seine net I can borrow?

Really Joe, you should at least wait until AFTER the tournament to
start with your excuses!
I guess Joe was hoping he'd get a few folks to stay home with his
dismal report - so he'd have less people to embarass himself in front
of tomorrow!!
Remember boys and girls, it's not too late to sign up - and even if you
don't sign up - just show up tomorrow and your in!
looking forward to meeting a few new folks tomorrow,

I said we caught a lot of pickeral and perch, but I DIDN'T say that we

Ahyup...as usuall, it's gonna be interesting.
BTW...I bumped into Ranger Ron up here in MK. It looks like the same
"wimp-bug" that TBDW has has also infected RR. He's not showing up either!
Damn! I needed the $$$.
Look forward to seeing some new faces.

BTW...if anyone sees a small red & white bobber out there with a line

weren't too many fish caught! OK who was the lucky person that the
only bass? I hope the person that did catch him was able to keep him

1212.77 | another low fish count | TOOTER::MACINTYRE | Terminal Angler | Mon Oct 02 1989 10:31 | 17 |
| I'm sure John will post the rundown with exact weights, the top
4 went *something* like:
1. Frenchy and Mick Rogers - 2 fish - 4lbs
2. Ray Tadry & Ken Kulp - 1 fish - 3lbs xoz?
3. Bassin Bob and Rick Palmer - 1 fish - 1lb 5oz
4. DonMac & Harbormaster - 1 fish - 1lb 3oz
I don't think any other keepers were weighed in but I may be wrong.
Overall another Monomonac tournament with a very low fish count, but it
was a nice day and I think we all had a good time.
Congrats to all!

Along with my thanks to those that made it happen, I REALLY have
to thank Bassin' Bob on his lesson of "how to expand ones
livewell".....:-) Donmac...put me down for one copy of the video
on that one.
If we can't get another "soft" water tourney going this year....
Then......BRING ON THE CLAN....I am ready for the hard stuff!!

My partner and I would like to thank Don Mac and John for putting
a fabulous(sp) tourney,and everybody who participated.The weather was
great and the fish were cooperating.Except for my trailer breaking in
half it was a great day.
For those who would like to know our secret for catching the lunker
and managing to grab first place, well we don't have one.:-) We used our
favorite lure, a little Rebel frog and fished the shore. Both hit about
10 feet from shore in about 4 to 6 feet of water. The 1st one in the
cove on the left after coming of the channel and the lunker in another
cove in the fingers.
I wish I could have been at the weight in to congradulate everybody
who caught fish and participated, but I had to find a way to get the
boat home in one piece.A good friend brought his trailer so that I
could put my boat on it.
Again Thank you
Looking to the next tourney
The team of Frenchy and Mick Rogers
PS: I wish I could have spent the prize money on fishing equipment but
now will be spent on a new trailer. :-(

1212.81 | How many holes in the back of a boat??? | SALEM::EASTER | | Mon Oct 02 1989 12:32 | 27 |
| Yeah, might know DonMac would forget MY *keeper*, and it was 12".
Before I get to the stat's I would like to thank Bassin' Bob for
the launch time entertainment, it was great. Hey Bassin' Bob, if
I were you I would make it a habit of carrying TWO plugs, just be
sure to label which plug goes in which *HOLE*.
Out of the twelve teams entered there was only five boats that caught
fish. The winning team did arrive right at the tourny start time
and I forgot to check their livewell. If you guys caught that fish
in that lake I'ed like to know what kind of growth hormones you
started him on that morning????
1ST PLACE Frenchy and Mick Rodgers 2LM (3lb Lunker) Total 4LB
2ND PLACE Ray Tadry and Ken Kulp 1SM Total 2.1LB
3RD PLACE Bassin'Bob and John Simmons 1LM Total 1.5LB
4TH PLACE DonMac and Harbormaster 1LM Total 1.3LB
5TH PLACE John E. and Roger B. 1LM Total 1LB
And every body else came in 6th.
I say we stock that place before we fish it again!!

| Sorry John, that's right you did sneak that one in.... 8^)
And geez, I forgot to mention "Wrong Hole Puishys" fiasco!!!
For those who were not there... As Bob was launching his boat HSJ
jokingly asked Bob if he had his drain plug in. Bob boasted,
"Of course, I NEVER for get MY drainplug!"
15 minutes or so later we see Rick Palmer running for Bob's tow
vehicle, "Bob's boat is sinking!"
Sure enough here comes Bob toward the launch, his rear deck about 4"
above the water! Tackle boxes and coolers floating in the bottom of
his boat! What a sight and I got it on video!
When he got the boat out of the water it turns out he was right, he did
not forget to put his plug in - he had put in the wrong hole!! He had
plugged his livewell drain hole!
Great show Bob!

| Congratulations to the winners. Thanks to the organizers.
As I mentioned to one or two of you, this will be my last tournament
on Monomonac. Not because I haven't had fun. I've caught my limit
of that despite no keeper bass in 2 attempts. No, friends, I'm
heading back south. I begin Sales training Nov. 27 and upon successful
completion by the end of March, I report for work in Knoxville,
Tenn. ( I will spend Nov-Mar split between here and there ). I
hope I'll be around for the Ice Tourney and Worcester show. I haven't
decided on a new home lake yet, but I see no reason not to drive
the 2 hours to Dale Hollow the next time y'all fish Monomonac.
On an even more serious note, a word of caution around the dangers
of hooks and other sharp objects. My partner caught a 180 pounder
at Monomonac - himself. He was pulling on a lure that had caught
on the canvas and it flew back and caught him INSIDE THE EYELID.
I don't know how he missed his eye. I had to push the barb through
his eyelid to cut it off. We've probably all had a few close calls.
This is closer than I care to contemplate. Be careful, guys.

then five feet from the boat. Well thanks again and please don't rush
the ice I'm sure there are still a few good fishing days left.

| Yup. The CURSE of Monomonac was with most of us ... AGAIN!
Thnaks to Bassin Bob for the early morn entertainment. It now appears that
Bassin Bob has a new for himself...
B _ N G - H O L E B O B!
If you need to fill in the blank, it's obviously a vowel; A E I O or U.
hmmm... is it BANG-HOLE BOB?
No...but we all did get a big BANG out of the fiasco!
OK, then...is it BENG-HOLE BOB?
Nope...that doesn't fit.
Well then, let's try BING-HOLE BOB.
Wrong, again.
Alright, let's try BONG-HOLE BOB.
No, but you're getting closer!
Geez, I give up. There's only one vowel left. It couldn't be a "U"??
THAT'S IT!!
So BB now can be called BHB!!
Thanks for the fun time!
BTW...anyone get that dog's license #??
