1206.0. "Fishing NEAR MT.Wachusset" by EUCLID::PETERSON (Panama has no 2nd ammendment) Mon Jul 31 1989 08:48

    		I'm going to take a couple of rides out to Mt. Wachusset
    at the end of the week to "walk around" with my two kids.

    		Does anyone know of a nice place to catch a couple of
    keepin fish that I could go to? We all fish together, but usually
    in water that leaves you wondering about the fish. Take that with
    my son's (good) desire to grill some fish that HE caught, and you
    have an idea what I've been going through this summer. He catches
    'em, but I don't let him eat fish from a resivoir that heads up in
    an old town dump.
        	I'm looking to do some spin-cast (i.e. I can't fly cast
    at all) fishing for about an hour or so, so I won't drain out your
    favorite spot. If my son or daughter DOES drain it-I'll brag about
    it here to you next week.

    		Thanks in advance,
    			CP

1206.1Wyman's pond is across the street.CPDW::ALUKONISMon Jul 31 1989 08:5810
    HI;
    There's Wyman's pond, which is directly across the street from Mt.
    Wachusett ski area. There are some nice fish in there, but it is
    awfully weedy right now. You didn't mention if you were boat fishing,
    or shore fishing. There is *some* limited shore fishing, but you're
    going to have to contend with the weeds. Good Luck!

       Try the state park at Crow Hill. It's the Rte 31 Exit off Rte
    2 just East of Westminster. Shore fishing only. It also has a picnic
    area, so you can bring your grill.

    Ill second Crow hill- a wonderfull place to bring the kids.
    There is something for everyone including a beach, great
    fishing from shore (bass,pickeral,kiver) bar-b-q pitts
    (bring the briquettes) and, if your slightly adventurous,
    check out crow hill itself. Just follow the trail across
    the street from the state park, it goes up steeply for 1/4
    mile and opens up into some magnificent cliffs which are
    widely used for practice by technical rock climbers. There
    are enough "short" rocks to wear out the kids without need
    of equipment. Great time guaranteed.

                            Climb on!   Ken H.

    	Thanks all,

    		We went to Crow Hill for a few hrs. Didn't catch anything
    but weeds and rain drops, but it was "out" enough for me and had
    enough to keep wife and baby happy for a while.
