I will be going camping at White Lake State park in Ossipee NH. Has anyone ever fished White Lake? If so what kind of fish are in there. Thanks in advance for any help. Big Jack

1202.1 | It *is* a nice place to camp... | CASPRO::PRESTON | What makes the Hottentots so hot? | Mon Jul 24 1989 14:27 | 17 |
Big Jack, I only camped up there in my PF (pre-fishing) days, so I can't comment on the fishing per se, *but* I can say that it is a small lake, and when I was there I only saw canoes and rowboats, and there is a path that goes all the way around the lake, with numerous places you could fish from shore. The down side is that if you have a boat, you may not be able to use it, because I don't recall seeing any launch facilities, but I could be wrong, since I was not inclined to notice those things as much as I do know... While we're wondering about new lakes, anybody ever fished Silver Lake in NH? Same general area as White Lake... Ed | |||||

Fishing in White lake was real slow. From my understanding the lake was reclaimed for trout only.I fished the lake early in the morning on two occasions and never landed anything using spinners and worms. When walking around the lake we noticed a large concentration of frogs which my friends kids were having a great time catching . We decided to try for some bass at Lake Chocora. We had a great time catching plenty of bass using the frogs as bait. Most were under a pound but did manage to land 2 that were over 2 lbs.We only had a car topper for a boat with oar power so it was slow getting around. White Lake is a great place for camping, swimming and picnicing but I'm not to impressed with it as a fishing hole. I talked to other campers there and I didn't hear of anyone catching anything. Hi Ed, Lake Chocora is about 4 miles north on Rt. 16 from White Lake State park on the left. You can't miss it. There are two lakes there. We had all the action on the smaller of the 2 lakes. I didn't notice a ramp but there are plenty of places to put in a canoe of car topper. Good luck. Big Jack |
