Robert, I have fished Quabog with the Molesta several times.
We have found bass in the channel that runs between Quabog and
South pond. That channel is at the back of Quabog if you launch
from the ramp on the road that the Clambox is on. We had success
working the lily pads with worms and gitzits.
Additional confusing directions.......There are two channels from
the main body of water....the one we fish is at 11:00 when you look
out from the ramp and at the other end of the lake.
Good luck

Thanks for the tip - we'll try it out this weekend...
What about where the river runs into the Lake.. Would anything
be hanging around there?

I caught a pike there way early in the spring....have not
tried that area for bass however......
If you know where the bait shop is in that area....that is
always a good place to drop in and find out the wheres and
whats of South Pond and Quabog.

| I have heard that the river that runs out of Quaboag is good but
it couldn't be proved by me. The back side towards south pond is
where I have the most luck. There is a small cove by the back river
that has jetties of lily pads in it, I usually work the edges of
the pads and come up with lots of bass. Also the bak shorlines
on both sides of the river is great. Again the shore should be
socked in with pads and fish the edge. The deepest water I have
found there is towards the back on the left side, there is a line
of summer homes there and the water gets to about 15 feet deep.
I am sure that the pike are in deep water now. Just to the left
of the ramp is where 7 mile river comes in. This whole area is
a shallow weed bed that hold bass but need to be worked hard to
produce. Bottom line is that this lake is filled with lily pads
and produce good bass when there on. Last year the Gitzit and I
fished it when Bassin' Bobs club had a tourny there, they weighed
in a mess of fish I heard 100+ Lbs, and Gitzit and I each caught
about 10 fish, several over 3 lbs and most in the 2 lb range.
I havent fished it this year yet but I am sure that the water is
not clear ans the weeds are thick. Let us know how you do.

A good friend of mine lives right across the street from Quabog.
I've heard that pike have been taken in the river that runs into
(or out of) the pond.
As .1 said there is a channel linking Quabog and South ponds.
Pike definitely get into South pond via this channel. I saw one
on the beach of South pond while launching my scanoe for trout.
My friend was fishing for trout about a month ago in South with his
ultralight, and thought he was snagged at one point, but something
was on the end of the line: a 17 inch pike took the rooster tail!
He was psyched to say the least.
Beware that Quabog gets extremely crowded, so plan on getting there
very early...

Thanks! It sounds like the channel between South and Quabog
is the place to be. I'll report back on how we did...

| Well, My friend and I showed up at the ramp on Quabog @ 5:00 AM
Sunday only to find about 30 bass boats heading out for a tournament.
We drove over to the other side of the lake and launched below
South Pond. On his first cast my buddy caught a small bass, after
that, nothing - a few hits in the pads but, no hookups. By 8:00
AM, the tournament fisherfolk started invading the channel, there
was a bass boat working every cove and constant traffic through
the channel, so we called it a day.
I'll probably try Quabog again - hopefully when there is less
people fishing it...
Skunked again...

1194.10 | Quaboag info anyone? | SVCRUS::SLATTERY | | Mon Nov 06 1989 10:15 | 20 |

A friend and I are planning a fishing trip this winter to Quaboag
Pond in Brookfield. The only thing we know about this pond is the
location and that it was stocked with Pike in 1984, 87, and 88. We
also know of a stocking of Muskie in 80, and that the pond is 531
acres. We've heard a few good things about the pond, but we haven't
really heard anything from anyone who fishes it regularly or through
the ice. If anyone can give us any info, it would be appreciated.
Some of the info we need is any "hot spots" on the pond we might
want to set up near, and maybe a nearby motel we can stay at. We
picked up a topo map of the pond from the Mass. Division of Fisheries
and Wildlife, but as we all know, these maps can be a little vague.
Can anyone suggest somewhere we can get a more detailed map of the
pond.
Thanks,
Dan.

.10 was moved here for me. I hadn't seen note before.
Reading the first 9 replies helped me decide a location on the
pond to fish. I found helpful info here. I would still like to hear
from anyone who has fished Quaboag through the ice. Also, I'd like
any info on a detailed map of the pond.
Thanks again,
Dan.
