1182.0. "Image building backfires ???" by SA1794::CUZZONES () Thu Jun 29 1989 13:48

I saw a picture in, I think, DOWN_EAST magazine last night of G.
Bush fishing (no doubt along the Kenebunkport coast). He was holding
his spinning rod with the reel on top and had his right hand on
    the handle.

Is this a special saltwater technique or **Does G. Bush not know
    how to hold his rod!!**

Mr. Bush is a phony sportsman. The picture is submitted as proof
    positive!

I didn't see the photo, but I betcha he was doing a marketing campaign
for the new Penn "Bush Bust'a" bass combo. The reel is made upright
like a true american should be.

A special line of tackle will follow shortly. To include the-

    D.C. Downrigger line.

Red, Wite and Blues surface poppers.

    Quayle tail fly casting gear.

    Barbra Bush backpacking equip.

    Col. North country apparell

    Admiral Poidexter Nautical Supplies.

Well that certainly figures. He's yet to prove his love of fishing to
    me by some political action(s).

Don't forget his FLAME-RETARDANT flag...

Speaking of him fishing, at least he knows how to use a baitcaster. I saw him
using a freshwater baitcaster, however, he was casting into the ocean.

What do you guy say, we invite him out fishing with us and see for
ouselves if he know how to fish.
If he declines the challenge it will only prove hes full of _hit.

I'll vollenter to use my boat for the day.

.4 beat me to it. I was gonna say that after the election he did
some steelheading in the Northwest to relax (never helps me relax :-).
A local publication said he wielded his baitcaster rather well in
    the Oregon Rivers.

    Soapbox time

I think the true measure of his dedication will be proven or disproved
in the next few weeks. As many of you are probably aware, there is a
major problem in the Pacific Ocean that has a tremendous impact on the
    USA.

Japan, Taiwan and Korea are currently using driftnets to harvest squid.
The nets are made of monofilament and are miles and miles long. The
problem is that they are dragging their driftnets hundreds to thousand+
miles out of the squid lattitudes. Why? The B******s are poaching
OUR steelhead and Salmon! (They are hours because they were spawned in
our streams, rivers and lakes and we own them by international accord)
This is having a tremendous affect on our population. They are
literally wiping them out. The seriousness is paramount! In addition,
the granola crunchers are up in arms because not only do they kill
salmon and steelhead but anything in the pacific that swims. So they
have footage of literally tons of mammals wrpped up in these damned
    nets....dead.

Here's the kicker. The nets frequently break loose so maybe 7 miles
of this monofilament net goes on fishing. They call them "ghost nets"
because there is no way to detect them once they break loose.

Currently, the federal government is reviewing whether or not economic
sanctions should be invoked against the offending nations and the
decision must be made this week. George Bush is allegedly following
this very closely and is prepared to stand up to the offenders.
If he succeeds in stopping this desimation of the Pacific, which
will surely turn it into an ocean desert in 5 years, then I'll let him
fish on my boat if he holds his rod with his feet and cranks the reel
    with his ears.

1182.7Fishing tackle, horses, what's the diff.?CPDW::ALUKONISWed Jul 05 1989 08:4913
    re:.0
Weeell, there you go again! Someone's always pokin' fun at the guy in
the oval office when he gets a little R&R. I tried to teach George to
    ride a horse, but he always wanted to face to the rear of the horse;
so it's no surprise to Nancy & me that he fishes with the reel
backwards too! I guess George has a lot in common with the back-end
of a horse; come to think of it, that little twit Danny boy does too!
Oh well, I'm headin' back to the corral for another ride on my
    horsey...
    Bye for now!
