1137.0. "Boat ramp gone on the CONN. River?" by CRBOSS::NERKER () Tue May 16 1989 14:26

The boat ramp on the Conn River was under about 6 ft of water
below the dam at Holyoke. The river was rippen as well. Wondering
if this happens all the time with no affect to the ramp (remember
it as blacktop)or is it good bye ramp and no more boat launching
without a 4 wheel drive vehicle?

The current (pun-intended) condition is not unusual for spring although
not usually this late. I haven't launched from that particular
ramp (are you refering to South Hadley ?) but the Agawam and other
ramps I do use take a licking and keep on ticking ... so not to
woory about it. What I want to know is how all this late flooding
is affecting the shad run ... I haven't heard boo yet.

Its the one off exit 5 on Mass Pike..not sure if its Chicopee or
what... This past weekend is when I encountered the dissapointing
vanishing ramp...so we fished for about an hour with only 1 shad
caught. From what I could tell, the locals werent getting too many
because of the fast water...with the receding waters, (if it doesnt
rain again) things should be considerably better this weekend...
1137.3Whole lotta water goin' downSA1794::CUZZONESFishbreathTue May 16 1989 23:046

I stopped by the Chicopee ramp this evening and yes, it's under
water ... the turnaround is under water. There were trailers in
the lot, though, so I think things are ok.

Does anyone know the conditions of the ramp or water level by the
OXbow on the Ct. river. Is the water up or down. I will be heading
there this weekend for the first time ever.
