    I have used Hannons Snake baits for two years now and had absolutly
    no success at all......end of MY conversation.

    ps. I did use them in all kinds of situations.

    Thats strange, I can't understand why they would'nt work well.
    I guess I'll just have to find out for myself.

    I recall one noter a long while back getting all excited because
    he used Hannon's Snake Bait, and it worked well for him...
    Probably in one of those "favorite lures" notes.

    	I have used a lure called a Snatrix which I had some very good
    success with for largemouths. 
    
    	I used up my small supply and then wasn't able to find them
    for a while. When I did find them, they were colored black instead
    of green. I bought them anyway but have not been able to duplicate
    the success with the black ones that I had with the green ones.
    The black ones seemed a little smaller/lighter than the green ones
    also but I didn't have any green ones left to compare them to.
    
    	I used them two different ways but both were rigged weedless
    with a weed guard type hook (not Texas style) and had no added weight
    on the line.
    
    	The first method was to cast them into the middle of a bunch
    of lily pads and then slowly retrieve it over the top. When I got
    to the edge I let it drop a little and then retrieved it near the
    surface with an occasional twitch while retrieving. I've had the
    bass either come up through the pads after them, hit them at the
    edge of the pads, or hit them on the retrieve. This was done mid
    summer on a hot sunny calm day. I was fishing with a friend who
    usually outfishes me 2:1 with his black Manns worms but I outfished
    him about 4:1 on that day.
    
    	The second method was to cast them into the side of something
    sticking out of the water (an old abandoned boat house in this
    particular instance) and just let them sink. This was on a sunny
    day in a lake in Maine (Okachobochiacaacaa or some god awfull 10
    lb. name) in mid spring. It was very clear water and you could see
    the bass all bunched up waiting for it to drift down to them.

    	I have never tried any other snake lures other than these.

    My cousin uses those snake baits and has been very successful on
    largemouth bass. He gets alot of strikes with them. I have seen him do
    well on the Nashua river with them. If he has one complaint about them,
    it is that the strike/hookup ratio is not very high, ie he gets alot
    more strikes than fish boated (due to the weedless properties).
    
    In any case, it seems to be good for locating active bass.

    FYI, I just bought a pack of Mann's Jelly Snakes...
    ha ha, just kidding, but I *did* get a package of Mann's
    Something-or-other snakes - they're dark green/metallic green, 
    about 8-10" long, and I just rigged them texas-style with a good
    sized Tru-turn bass hook. I figure it's a little too early in the
    season just yet, but will be anxious to try them later, especially
    on smaller bodies of water where snakes are more likely to be found.
    
    Try to imagine a bass eating a snake..!

    	I'm not sure how true this is but I've heard tell that snakes
    work particularly good during spawning season because water snakes
    eat fish eggs.

    Did I say texas-style? I meant weightless, do they look like a
    swimming snake...
