    They stocked Whalom quite heavy a couple of weeks ago, each time i've
    been there i've had some luck, and have seen others catch a few, they
    seem to be hitting flies and lures with a red color, Dare Devils seem
    to work just fine. Hope your kids have some luck.

1098.2Try Spec or Fort pond!SENIOR::PENNINGFri Apr 14 1989 13:3512

    I know that they stocked Whalom pretty heavy, but they also stocked
    Fort pond and Spec pond. I have limited out everytime I have gone
    to either spot. This is fishing from shore with a worm/marshmello
    combo. Boy am I glad today the limit goes up to six. I really hate
    to let rainbows and browns go. I have caught 19 and missed at least
    30 over the past two weeks.

    So good luck anywhere you go,

    Bill- who will be smoking fishing and drinking brews on Monday!!
1098.3WHY! WHY! WHY!TRACTR::DOWNSMon Apr 17 1989 08:2810
    Ref. .2
     If you could of kept those 19, would you have? How many fish can
    you eat in two weeks? Don't mean to sound offensive but I'm glad
    you had to release those fish because maybe someone else could get
    some pleasure from them, maybe .0's kids. I'll never understand
    why there are so many anglers out there that must keep large numbers
    of fish, day after day when most of us know they'll only end up
    in the trash. My father is one of those meat hunters and he's got
    trout in the freezer date back to 1982, boy that burns me! Sorry
    if I offended anyone but I couldn't help myself.......
1098.4I'll second that one.BTO::SCHOFIELD_KMon Apr 17 1989 13:283

    	I practice catch and release more now since returning from a
    	Colorado fishing trip than ever before. Between 3 of us we caught
    	approx. 100 trout in 3 1/2 days. Couldn't eat them all and couldn't
    	bring them back, so we had to let them go. All were 11-14" cut-
    	throats. Felt great doing it. Now, if I don't think I'll eat them,
    	I'll let them go.

    In Ref. to Reply .03,

         I only kept five of the 19 I caught. I gave three to my
    grandfather, who cant really do as much fishing anymore, and I
    myself ate the other two. So no fish went to waste. I am also
    a firm beliver in catch and release, I want my kid to fun the
    same oppertunities that I am having now. So if it makes you feel
    any better none went to waste.
         I was fishing with my younger brother one day and I hooked
    onto a very nice bass. I guy in the boat next to could not believe
    that I let it go. I told him that everyone keeps all the breeder
    fish then how will the population ever maintain a steady balance.
    He had no answer, and I'm sure it didn't make him feel to good about
    the three he had on his stringer.

    I am firm believer if you are not going to eat let it go, and same
    goes for hunting, dont shoot it unless your going to eat it.

    Sorry to to get you all up in arms,

    Bill- ps: the two I ate were fantastic!
