| I agree with the previous note about Trout fishing in Mass! The
Sudbury river in Hopkinton has been excellent, as it was stocked
Friday, March 31st (in Hopkinton-Ashland) with BRowns and Rainbows
between 9-13 inches. The Sudbury river crosses Rt 85. in Hopkinton
and continues to Ashland, home of the Nyanza Chemical Dump site. Yes,
the state does stock the river where the chemicals leach into the river
in Ashland, and there are many viewpoints regarding the taking of fish in
that area. I personally do not eat the fish there in Ashland, I look
at it as "chemically inspired catch and release".
On Friday and Saturday I took my limit of Trout on the Sudbury in
Hopkinton, on Sunday I struck out. I was most successfull with Heavy
spinners fished "low and slow" in the river. Some others were
successful with corn and live bait (worms, meal worms, etc.) I was
unsuccessful with streamers with my flyrod.
In Hopkinton reservoir, also located on Rt. 85, there are many good
size trout there as it was recently stocked. My friends did well
trolling a silver "thomas bouyant" and a medium size "colorado".
I have heard many good reports on Ashland Reservoir, and I personally
have take "got my limit" on Whitehall reservoir in Hopkinton a week
ago...
