1067.0. "Looking for New Hampshire Trout Ponds" by VLS7::RADICIONI () Wed Mar 29 1989 16:09

I'm looking for some Trout Fishing spots around Mason,Greenville,
New Ipswich,Jaffery N.H.areas.. I heard of a good Trout lake in Keene
called Silver Lake, that holds a few nice Rainbows and I also heard
of Power Mill Pond in Hancock N.H... I'm new to New Ipswich and
all I here is that its a warm water fish area, all the Trout ponds
are way north or east from there..

Sooooo,I'm looking for HELP... Can anyone share in some nice Trout
    ponds or even streams ???

    Thanks

      Arnie,

I live in Manchester so I don't fish over that way much but
I remember a trout stream off of Rt101 just before you get to
Peterborough that gave up a few brookies and a salmon. I can't
remember the name of the stream although I'm sure its part of the
Souhegan river. If you head west on rt101 past the Temple Mt. ski
area you will see parts of the stream on the right hand side. You
can fish under any of the bridges that the side roads go across
but if you have some chest waders you'll be able to get to some
nice pools that are back away from the roads.
If you go to any place that sells N.H. fishing licenses
get a copy of the fishing guide and they list all the ponds and
streams in that area that are stocked by them.

good luck, let us know when you catch some trout

      Kevin

Thanks Kevin.. I have a book and it mentions the ponds but not the
towns.. I've been sitting here looking for these ponds in Hillsboro
county and there hard to find..
I'll keep looking for places ...

    Thanks again,

1067.3Here's some spots!TRACTR::DOWNSThu Mar 30 1989 13:047
Arnie, I live in Mason and often vists places like, Nubanusit in
Hancock, SpoonWood Pond on the back side of Nubanusit(need to paddle
to and jump a small damn. Silver lake, in Harrisville and Granite
Lake in Nelson can also be productive. There are numerous lakes
and ponds about a 1/2 hour north of Mason. The only trout waters
right around Mason are the streams. I also buy an out of state Mass.
license and fish the streams in Townsend, good luck!
1067.4Try Fox Brook in N.I.AFVAX::SYSTEMThu Mar 30 1989 13:1311
    Arnie,

Welcome to New Ipswich! Although I don't fish for trout myself,
I have a friend that lives in Smithville (a suburb??? of New Ipswich)
and he claims that Fox Brook is stocked on occasion and he has good
luck. Fox Brook kinda runs parallel to Taylor Rd. and there's
a little pond with a dam that is THE place.

    Good luck,
    Brian
