Extracted/condensed from Manchester Union Leader 3/10/89. CONCORD - The state's tight financial situation has prompted the House Fish and Game Committee to recommend a $5 hike to hunting and fishing licenses effective Nov. 15 this year to generate an estimated extra $715,000 for the biennium. The Fish and Game panel voted 14-3 for House Bill 271 as amended. "Due to the flat income from license revenue," the committee re- considered its prior action, recommending that the bill be killed, reported Rep. William Boucher, R-Londonderry. He said the Fish and Game Department has overestimated income by $800,000, and he said complicating the situation is the mandated 3 percent reduction in spending through Gov. Judd Gregg's executive order. The bill hiking the license fees comes to the House floor next week. If I'm not mistaken, we had an increase about 2 years ago. Steve
