1016.0. "Pittsburg N.H. Lodging" by WMOIS::FLORENCE (I'm the NRA) Tue Mar 07 1989 16:43

I'm going to be fishing in the Connecticut Lakes area and I was
wondering if someone could suggest a place to stay for a week.
So if anyone has any info on cabins in Pittsburg I'd apprecitate
    whatever info you could supply.

                                       Thanks,

                                         Randy

    	Hi,

I have been going up to Pittsburg every summer for a couple of years
now. What a great place for trout fishing! The best place I have
stayed is called Tall Timber Lodge (603-538-6651). It's right one back
lake and very easy to find, they will give directions. They have 2 types
of facilities one are cabins with 2 or 3 bed rooms, a kitchen and
bath. The other is the Lodge with individual bedrooms but large
dinning room and shared baths. Both are very nice. If I remeber
correctly the cost is about $20 per person per night.I have stayed
at one other cabin site call Wonder Inn but won't recommend it except
as a FINIAL resort (no pun intended). This place was about $18 a night
but the cabins are much smaller.

Thier is also a nice state park but I can't remeber the name off the
top of my head. Were you can camp for like 6 bucks a night and it is
not to far from the lakes.

One last thought, most if not all rivers and steams are fly fishing
only in the upper lakes area.

    Randy,

I have stayed at Timberland Lodge on First Connecticut several
times. The cabins are not fancy but they are clean and fully
equiped. They run about $19 a night per person. They are ran by
    Doug and Linda Feltmate (603)538-6613.

If you want fancy american plan, try "The Glen" on first.

If you want to camp, there is the state park on Francis and a
comercial camp gound about a mile before the park.

As for fishing, First is good, Second is great, Third is ____ (the
moderator has prohibited this word). Lake Francis as very nice
Browns and Lakers, but the Salmon are VERY skinny. Back Lake is
    very popular for trout.
