| Marty-
You jerk! Vacation in San Juan. What a life! I understand there are some
very large blue marlin right outside the harbor. I'm not sure how much it
would cost, but I imagine it would be similar to a US trip (probably on the
lower side.) Good luck- and let us know how you do!

| Blue Marlin...hmmmm, sounds good. I've heard they get lots of
tuna down there too. Should be a blast. I'll post the results
when I get back!

| One of the Jersey chartermen used to advertise for winter fishing
in P.R. It is Capt. Mike Verges. His Jersey boat ids the Sea Witch...I
think he calls the San Jaun boat the "Southern Witch". He puts ads
in the Fisherman, so a call to them may help.

| Thanks Bagel, I'll try and locate him this week. I'd love to
have it set up prior to going. What did he charter for in Jersey?
Bluefish?

I think he charters for everything when he's up here. He was one
of the early canyon runners back when that fishery opened up.

| Well, the trip was great, but the fishing was slow while we
were there. I ended up chartering a 52 ft boat for a half day.
What a rig...beautiful! My SO and I had a great afternoon,
but got skunked...We read about the Captain (Mike Benitez) in
several different books, and he is supposed to be one of the
top Marlin fisherman in the world. He held the world record
for blue marlin for years, and has boated over 3000 to date.
The problem is that the marlin fishing is really during the
summer months. This time of year the prime catch is dolphin.
There was a freak tropical depression in the area and it really
shut things down. We got absolutely nothing except a 190$ sunburn!
Oh well, it was nice to get out on the water anyway...
